Until Pixie Dust accomplishes the two annual fundraising goals I've set, which are the core reason Pixie Dust was created and why I named my business as such, I will continue to donate to local and hometown silent auctions for good causes. When my sister passed away, I thought she was my person, the one who's always there no matter what. She was fighting for her life but still showed up for me, even during chemo treatments. After she passed, conversations about her revealed stories of how she would answer the phone, even at 1 o'clock in the morning, to listen without judgment, with love, laughter, and dark humor. We said it was like she sprinkled pixie dust everywhere she went. My first goal is to gather supplies for warming boxes containing warm socks, a soft blanket, a CC beanie, Chapstick, nausea pops, lotion, and similar items. When my sister fought cancer, she was always freezing, so my mother and I would send her these boxes. Now, I'm making them in her honor for our local cancer center, with my nieces adding handmade items to honor their mother. We're donating these boxes to the local cancer center in honor of my sister, Christina, who lost her fight against stage 3C ovarian cancer at 37. My second goal is a music scholarship in honor of my late father, John White, to send kids to the Central Methodist University band camp. My father was passionate about music, teaching, and his students; music literally flowed through his veins. I couldn't think of a better way to honor him than to send a couple of kids from my hometown to the same band camp that my family sent my youngest daughter, Sara, to after he passed away. I'd like to start with this goal and potentially raise enough money to do the John White music scholarship at his last school, where he was the band director before passing. I want you guys to know that when you support my new small business, you're also supporting these goals that I've set to give back to our community. I'm not just trying to build a business to provide for myself; there's so much more intertwined in this thing that I'm trying to do. I know that I cannot donate to everyone who asks, so for now, I will do my best to participate in five fundraisers each year that are for a good cause until I'm able to start doing the warming boxes and the music scholarship. Here are a couple that I've made up recently: one is for a local fundraiser here at the Lake of the Ozarks for the central Missouri foster care and adoption association, and the other one is for a young lady from my hometown who is fighting her own battle with cancer. The next one I will make up will be for my oldest daughter's mother-in-law, who was attacked by a bull on her farm back home and is very lucky to be alive, but her injuries have put a financial strain on her household. While she's healing, I don't have money to give, but I can at least make up a basket for their fundraiser, and hopefully, that will help them raise some much-needed funds. If you or someone you know is part of something here locally and you're getting ready to have a fundraiser and need a basket made up, I think that I have enough product that I can make up two more and then that will be it for the rest of the year until I'm able to bring in some funds. If you haven't already, please follow my business page. Invite your friends to follow, and if you've purchased anything from me, please go over to my business page and leave a review. This is the only way that my small business is going to grow. I hope that you each had a blessed holiday weekend and that the week ahead is equally blessed. Thank you to each person that's supporting me throughout this journey over the past year and who has extended me, patience and grace while I'm learning and teaching myself new things every day so that I can offer you guys products that not only I can be proud of, but that you can be proud of ,too. I look forward to this coming year and service to my community and all the goodness that comes with that and continuing to learn and grow and build a Pixie Dust, one Christmas ornament, one Kozies, one personalized Christmas stocking, one necklace, one order of ink pens for your growing business one memorial stone at a time.💛
