Today I found out that I have something called a chiari malformation that I was born with. This has caused a cyst in my spinal cord to grow. Neck surgery is highly likely. They’re ordering a cine (CSF) flow MRI and a thoracic MRI first. The surgery wouldn’t need to touch the cyst, because it should theoretically relieve the cyst without it needing to be shunted.
