It was such a great time attending with my family this year! There were many fun things to check out, including shopping, food, islamic talks, and fireside chats.

We take our awards VERY seriously at Camels and Chai 🏆

Our “Best Team Name” winners at Pakistani Trivia Night walked away with this certified certificate of certification 😆 saying “Naam toh rakhna koi hum se seekhe” “نام تو رکھنا کوئی ہم سے سیکھے 💅” = rough translation: “people should ask us how to name things”

This certificate features some of Pakistan’s most iconic landmarks and monuments. The question is… can you name all of them? 👀

It was so much fun to paint this design in our Islamic Geometric Patterns Workshop today! Our hard work led to such a fun and colorful design. The yellows really made this piece pop!! 🍭

We will back at Oca Mocha again on June 13 for our event: “Brushstrokes for Palestine” where we will paint a fun variation of the Palestinian flag and donate 50% of the proceeds to World Central Kitchen that have provided millions of meals to Palestinians in Gaza.

Are you guys ready for the next Camels and Chai event?

At Camels and Chai, we specialize in art workshops and cultural events inspired by the traditions of the Muslim world.

Join us on May 9 from 12pm-2pm for a hands-on Islamic Geometric Patterns Workshop at OCA Mocha in Arbutus, MD.

In this class, you’ll create your own repeating patterns using a pencil, ruler, painter’s tape, and acrylic paint, all inspired by the precision and beauty of traditional Islamic geometric art. You will also explore the history behind the 8-pointed star while creating your own piece in a calm, fun, and hands-on environment.

No prior art experience is needed, and all materials are provided. Whether you’re curious about Islamic art, looking for a relaxing creative activity, or just want to try something new, this class is perfect for anyone!

Your Ticket Includes:
* 🎨 2 hours of step-by-step painting instruction
* 🖌️ All art supplies + a cardstock paper to create your geometric design and take home
* 💲 $35 per person

Grab your compass and ruler, we’re getting meditative. ✍️✨

Our next Camels and Chai event is going to be an Islamic Geometric Patterns Workshop! There is something so satisfying about starting with just a few pencil lines and watching a complex design emerge on your page.

We’ll be drafting these patterns on heavy cardstock and finishing them off with paint. No experience is necessary, just a patience for repeating lines and patterns over and over again, making this a perfectly meditative activity!
