Another competition in the books: the fifth annual Shady Strong BBQ competition! The Shady Strong organizers put on a heck of an event; BBQ, music, vendors, raffles, a visit from the vietnam war memorial riders, a visit from the Rumble Ponies' mascots, you name it. They had teams that had been at all the past events, a team from long island and our neighbors came all the way from Buffalo to compete in their 1st competition ever! And all to support a great cause! The Shady Strong organization helps a lot of families effected by ALS and we are glad to have been a part of this fundraiser!

We never do anything the easy way...This was our first competition with only a half hour between turn-ins, I threatened to practice before we went, but never got the time. For a second curve ball, I decided to buy a barrel smoker at the last minute and only got a chance to cook on it once before arriving. And cherry on top, we didnt have one of our usual helping hands who can pull an extra trailer, so we also didnt bring one of the main smokers we typically use. Needless to say, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out!

In the end, GET'N Sauced BBQ managed to pull off Reserve Champion thanks to a 1st place Brisket, 3rd place Chicken, 3rd place Ribs, and 3rd place Dessert! Congratulations to Bouncing Brisket BBQ on the call for GC! None of the meat turned out the way I wanted it to, but we rolled with what we had; I didn't think we had a chance with the brisket not being full slices because it was too tender, but you never can tell! Maybe we found the new way to turn it in?!? 😏

1st annual Round About BBQ in the history books! We were excited that this one was so close to home! Big shout out to Southern Tier Events LLC for putting this together, all seemed to go pretty smooth from our end. The weather started out a little hot on Friday and it rained only a little Saturday, so all-in-all no complaints!

The first competition of the year for team GET'N SAUCED. It was the first trip with the enclosed trailer and Yoder smoker. Both came in handy as expected!

2 briskets, 6 pork butts, 8 racks of ribs and 150 chicken wings later, out of 8 teams, we came out 1st in chicken and Reserve Champion overall! Congratulations to team Burnin’Barrel BBQ for GC and team Pork Bellies BBQ for 1st place brisket and team Ash Kickers BBQ for people's choice! It was great to meet new teams and see familiar faces!

Huge thanks to my family for all the help, none of this would be possible without you! And another huge thanks to Legends Bar & Grille for being our first sponsor! On to the next one!

Might have to get some of this and see if it's better than mine!

We picked up our first ever “bottled” rub yesterday!!! We’ve used this blend since 2018 on all things pork and have even put into our competition lineup!

This was collaborated and crafted by our good friends at Stuarts Spices. We love how it came out!!!!!

Tame the Flame BBQ is one of our favorite teams to meet at a competition, really great people! Take a look at the raffle they have going on and help them out! They are trying to help pay for their trip to the KCBS World Invitational contest! I hope they rock it!
