Third Grade Doodle IB Mural

We learned about Mr. Doodle and Doodle Boy and how they create doodles everywhere! Each class was assigned an attribute and worked together coming up with how they could show its meaning in doodles. They doodled away on paper first in pencil, then sharpie making their own artwork. From their drawing they chose favorite doodles add to the mural panel using POSCA paint markers, which were a huge hit! Color was added using bleeding g art tissue and water soluable markers.

I have to say this is one of my favorite murals to date. Unfortunately I was so busy with the children I forgot to take pictures of the process!

First Grade made all of the colorful flowers and leaves while learning about artist Frida Kalho and the art of Kerri Colaizzo Ambrosino.

Second Grade created their own “woven” square and created ravens and based on the book, Raven A Trickster Tale From The Pacific Northwest, by Gerald McDermott.

Then it was off to my home studio where I arranged all of their hundreds of art pieces on pannels. Then back to the school over winter break for install. Students and staff came back to a big surprise 😊
