I just did a MASSIVE restock over at Flippin’ Vintage Boutiques & Thrift 920 South Lewis Blvd., Sergeant Bluff!

I refilled the fall scents, and also brought in some of winter and holiday - I still have some new ones to make, but last year’s favorites are available now!!

A HUGE thank you to everyone that came out last weekend and shopped at Swanky Chic! I've got the next few weekends off, and I'll be busy preparing for a very busy November!

I've got it packed full of fun shows, starting with A Night On Main on Thursday the 5th.
I'll also be back at the Norfolk Mall this season, Nebraska Created opens on November 12th through Christmas Eve. Then it's back to back weekends in Sioux Falls, Pender and Sioux City.

I'll have some good online sales going for Black Friday - Cyber Monday weekend too!

Plenty of opportunities next month to get your holiday shopping done, and stock up for yourself :)

How a custom scent actually gets made, since a few of you have asked. 🕯️

It is not glamorous. It's a lot of small jars and a notebook.

You start with an idea — apple and bourbon — and then you find out immediately that apple alone smells like a candy, and bourbon alone smells like a hotel bar at 2am, and put together at the obvious ratio they smell like neither one on purpose.

So you adjust. Then you wait, because a candle has to cure — you can't judge it the day you pour it, you have to leave it alone for days and come back. Then you burn it. Then you change one thing and do the whole cycle again.

Italian bergamot went in because the apple needed lifting. Heliotrope went in on a hunch near the end, in a small amount, and it's the thing that makes the whole blend feel finished instead of assembled. 🍎

That's Apple Bourbon. It exists nowhere else because I made it up, and I'm genuinely pleased with how it landed.

A little transparency about what "hand poured in small batches" actually means. 🕯️

It means me. In Nebraska. Pouring them.

It means I melt the wax and I mix the fragrance and I set the wicks and I wait for them to cure, and then I wipe down every jar because glass shows every fingerprint and I am apparently the kind of person who cares about that.

It means 4 to 6 days before yours ships — not because anything is slow or disorganized, but because it isn't sitting in a warehouse. It doesn't exist yet. It gets made after you order it, which is a genuinely different thing from buying a candle off a shelf.

And it means when you open the box, that candle was poured for you specifically, by a person, roughly a week ago. 🎃
