Most caterpillars have 16 legs. The 6 on the front are called their “true legs”. Those become the moth legs (and they have joints!)

The other pairs of legs are called their “prolegs” and they’re like little squishy suction cups!

Imperial moth caterpillar update:
They’re fat, happy, and living their best lives 🥰 I still haven’t done an official count on how many I have… maybe I’ll do that this weekend.
