It has been on my heart to create a scholarship for quite some time. At first, I wanted it to center around young entrepreneurship because that is what Designs by D represents to me. But while sitting on the senior trip, a light bulb went off. This was the perfect scholarship opportunity. One that represents unity, bonding, fun, and most importantly, an unforgettable experience.

Not knowing who the winners were until last night also added so much suspense, but I truly felt that was the fairest way to do it. I wanted every essay to be read with an open heart and unbiased perspective.

I am truly proud of the two recipients (Raylan Mccastle & JaLiah Cross). Their essays left me in awe and reminded me just how meaningful that trip was for them. Seeing the impact the experience had on our students made the trip even more special. 💙🎓 Nikki Smith
