Here is a very useful product from Kramer Electronics for sending HDMI signals over long distances. The TP-580 series allows for extending UltraHD and HD signals over spans of up to 70 meters via Cat5e (or better) cables. It also allows for bidirectional RS232 and IR for control. This is ideal for projection systems and digital signage in conference rooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, hotels and churches, as well as production studios.

EFX Tip of the Week: Ducking Bass and Drums

Use side chain compression or side chain enabled noise gates to help your drums and bass work together to create clarity in the low end frequencies of your mix. Let the bass give your mix the tone and the kick give the attack. The compression or noise gate only has to reduce the sound by few db to be effective in creating clarity in the mix.

Radial's SGI is a must-have for churches using electric guitar. Radial is a company that is known for their quality DI and signal processing solutions. Beyond their DI’s, one of our favorite tools that they have created is the SGI – Studio Guitar Interface System. The Radial SGI is a high performance line driver that takes an unbalanced guitar signal and allows you to drive it as far as 100 meters (300ft) without noise. We have used this solution a number of times on stage for churches wanting to have their guitar amps in off-stage isolation cabinets in order to minimize onstage sound bleed to maintain clean front of house (FOH) sound.

EFX Tip of the Week: Effective Reverb

Every vocalists loves reverb, and when used correctly reverb can bring another level of life and air to the vocal. When using reverb on vocals, though, apply it with a mentality of “less is more.” Some reverb on the vocal can help give it a certain amount of separation and push it forward in the mix. Too much reverb, though, can make a vocal sound as if it is pushed to the back of the mix (although this can be a cool effect when done purposefully). If a high amount of reverb is needed for the vocal, you should use a pre-delay and adjust the vocal and return level appropriately to ensure the vocal is sitting clearly over the backing.

Recessed floor boxes are a necessity for keeping cables on stage clean and low profile, as well as keeping presenters and performers safe. Kingdom Place is thrilled with the results!

Today we’re sharing a video about one of our favorite audio plugins from Waves, the Dugan AutoMixer. This is an incredible automixer that can control the gain of up to 64 channels at once (based on the original hardware). In this video, FOH engineer Andrew Fletcher shows how the Dugan Automixer helps him keep his dialogue tight and clear when he mixes multiple mics on TV’s The Voice. Wave's Plugins are incredible tools that have been designed to work across almost any console.
