So in my element!
Night lab with Claire and her Astronomy class.
Clear sky, moon, Mars and Jupiter.
Plus lots of ⭐️⭐️ and ✈️✈️!
Brings back high school memories- I did the same outing with my Astronomy class when I was a senior in high school. But my Astronomy class went to Bear Creek park in Houston. Fun! Thanks for bringing out your telescope and hosting the lab, !

Claire has officially decided to attend Le Cordon Bleu in Ottawa to earn her pastry chef certification (Yes, this is the same Le Codon Bleu that is in Paris - I have appointed myself her official taste tester 😄).

What makes me even more proud is what she’s planning next. After culinary school, she wants to come back to Texas and earn her bachelor’s degree in Special Education from UNT. Her goal is to open a cooking school for students with diverse learning needs.

She’s found a way to combine her love of baking with her heart for helping others, and that just feels like exactly who she is.

SO proud of her and excited to see where this path takes her. 🍰

From gummy doorstops to golden loaves of actual sourdough 🥲✨
I finally feel like I’ve cracked the code—and it’s actually fun now! A huge shoutout to for her foolproof recipe, for the technique glow-up, and yep… for the oven temp troubleshooting hotline 😂🔥

This is the first of four mini loaves from today’s batch. It’s still cooling, but it’s headed to my mom soon—because she lives alone and a giant loaf would’ve been a whole bread situation.

Also, today’s dough is asiago rosemary and smells like a bakery and an Italian restaurant had a delicious baby 🧀🌿

Proofing like a pro. Or at least a semi-pro with good instincts and a slightly obsessive streak.

✨ **Big Changes in My Pattern Design Workflow!** 🎨

This week, I made an important decision about my creative process—I’m shifting back to Illustrator for my surface pattern design work. While I successfully created my first full collection in Procreate, the workflow felt more challenging than I’d like. Illustrator has always been where I feel most confident and efficient, so I’m excited to return to it for future collections.

That said, I’m still learning and growing! I’m currently enrolled in Peggy Dean’s Procreate Boot Camp to continue improving my skills. Yesterday, I spent the morning creating patterns in Illustrator, organizing color palettes, and setting up a structured system in Creative Cloud to make my workflow smoother. I also developed a naming system that connects patterns to their palettes—making it so much easier to find and reuse elements across collections. It was a super productive day! 🙌

Later in the evening, my daughter joined me for a "field trip" for business step #2: Dreamist Dream List"! (from the Art of Collections corse by the amazing and wonderful CatCoq) We took a little field trip to Target & Hobby Lobby 🛍️, took pictures of products that match the aesthetic I want to create and noting manufacturers for my client tracker. When I got home, I started researching submission guidelines… and wow, it’s not an easy process! Many companies don’t provide clear info on how to submit art or get licensed.

Still, this week was a huge step forward in refining my workflow and growing my surface pattern design business! Feeling motivated for what’s next! 🚀✨

I’m so excited! My very first full surface pattern collection. I have many single patterns I could have built on, but I wanted to do this one from scratch so I can understand the process, which I am learning from CatCoq.

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share a sneak peek of my latest (and very first!) birthday card collection featuring four playful animal heroes—a kitten, a puppy, a unicorn, and a baby elephant—all dressed up with party hats and festive details. Before I dive into creating the coordinating complex and simple patterns, I’d love to get your constructive feedback. Here are a few specific questions:

• Color Palette Cohesiveness: Do the colors across the cards feel unified? Are there any hues that seem out of place or need adjustment?

• Design Cohesiveness: Do the four hero designs look like they belong in the same collection? How can I better tie them together?

• Font Choice & Readability: Is the text easy to read and does it match the playful theme? Should I try different fonts for each card, or would a consistent font work better?

• Copy Style: Does the copy feel interesting and unique? Any suggestions to make the text even more engaging?

• Color Contrast & Backgrounds: I had a tough time choosing the background for the puppy card—does it offer enough contrast, or would you recommend a different approach?

I appreciate any insights, suggestions, or thoughts you can share. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me refine these designs before I move on to the next phase. Thanks for your support!

Excited to share a blooming breakthrough from today's live session! I pushed my creative boundaries by diving into Procreate's recolor tool and using hard shadows to beautifully define each petal in two brand-new floral artworks. A heartfelt thank you to Peggy at The Pigeon Letters for overflowing my creative bucket—I'm bursting with inspiration for new surface pattern designs! Stay tuned as these vibrant designs make their way into my collections. 🌸💐✨
