✨ **Big Changes in My Pattern Design Workflow!** 🎨
This week, I made an important decision about my creative process—I’m shifting back to Illustrator for my surface pattern design work. While I successfully created my first full collection in Procreate, the workflow felt more challenging than I’d like. Illustrator has always been where I feel most confident and efficient, so I’m excited to return to it for future collections.
That said, I’m still learning and growing! I’m currently enrolled in Peggy Dean’s Procreate Boot Camp to continue improving my skills. Yesterday, I spent the morning creating patterns in Illustrator, organizing color palettes, and setting up a structured system in Creative Cloud to make my workflow smoother. I also developed a naming system that connects patterns to their palettes—making it so much easier to find and reuse elements across collections. It was a super productive day! 🙌
Later in the evening, my daughter joined me for a "field trip" for business step #2: Dreamist Dream List"! (from the Art of Collections corse by the amazing and wonderful CatCoq) We took a little field trip to Target & Hobby Lobby 🛍️, took pictures of products that match the aesthetic I want to create and noting manufacturers for my client tracker. When I got home, I started researching submission guidelines… and wow, it’s not an easy process! Many companies don’t provide clear info on how to submit art or get licensed.
Still, this week was a huge step forward in refining my workflow and growing my surface pattern design business! Feeling motivated for what’s next! 🚀✨
