Using vintage silver plate flatware to create custom and personalized wedding sets, wind chimes, eclectic home decor and more at www.lovelettersupcycled.com and on Etsy www.lovelettersupcycled.etsy.com Each day is typically spent tending to the needs of everyone else, and greatly lacking in quality "me" time. It finally occurred to me that I needed something to really work on that involved some la
bor and creativity - something I could do that would ground me and give me self fulfillment. So, in the Spring of 2012, I picked up a bucket of old silverware and decided to start making wind chimes. Each new piece I would create would punch me right into another phase of "what can I make now...what else can I do with these?!" I bought metal stamps and began to stamp the flatware. I began to saw through spoons, bend and twist forks, hammer shapes into them, and even use a blow torch and spot welder! It has made me a better wife, mother, friend, and woman. Thank God for art, family, and vice grips. I chose the name Love Letters Upcycled because I feel that everything that is good in my life, all started with love letters. I met my husband 5 months before he was to deploy to Iraq for a 14 month tour in the Army. I wrote him one letter each and every single day for the entire time he was deployed. I believe that those "love letters" brought us closer together, turned us into husband and wife, and now into a mother and father. Love Letters, for me, was the only name that made sense, and the only name that truly resonated in my heart. I take the time to gift wrap each item I sell. I love unwrapping things, even if I know what's inside - there is something special and almost ritual about getting to unwrap something. I love being able to give that feeling to each customer. I invest my time and heart into each and every order, and in five years selling here on Etsy, I've never taken longer than a week to make and ship out a custom, made to order item. When I do a custom or personalized order, expect me to email you. Expect that you will feel like a friend is making something for you - because that's how I look at it. I love knowing that what I've made for you will be cherished for a lifetime. I pride myself in every aspect of my work and I will always be honest and true to my craft. I'm here to create, and grow. I love to be able to provide a special something for someone who will love it. Spending my time hammering away in my workshop is what fills my soul. Thank you for giving me a place to retreat to and call my own.
