Arbor Thoughts:

It's still July but the air is cooler this morning. The birds appear to appreciate the light breeze. Belle joined me in the glider.

Once a man, twice a child. I've heard this phrase for many years. Some say it comes from the bible. If it is, I couldn't find it. Since taking care of parents with cognitive issues, we've learned what this means. We use the same tactics with them and the grandchildren. We beg them to eat. I put stars by their name when they finish a meal. We bribe them to take their meds. We explain things simply and more carefully so they understand. We calm their fears.

Jesus said except we become as little children we will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Faith of a child. Maybe this is part of the process.

Seasons Change:
"Children get older, I'm getting older too" - Stevie Nicks

In the mornings I like to have coffee at my favorite place. A covered area at the end of the pool we call the arbor. I love the summer season, and I love to be outside. So I come out here to think and pray. I am thinking about the upcoming season change and the seasons of changes in our family. Our children have their own homes and families. Our grandchildren are growing like weeds and thriving. My husband has gone through health challenges. Our parents are aging. My husband's parents require full time care. We take care of them on the weekends. It is heartbreaking at times. And summer will fade into fall very quickly. It makes me a little sad. I don't like change.

My little wreath gig has changed too. My early years I easily sold 40 wreaths a month, while working a full-time job. I didn't sleep much. I've slowed down. I still love to create wreaths and don't plan to quit. I create wreaths in my head. I just haven't found time to make them reality! It is still great therapy for me.

I am learning to embrace my current season, whatever it may be. Some days it requires some tears and prayers.
