heart that built me

heart that built me Interior Design/Decorating I would love to help your space ‘reflect your heart’. I can’t wait to help you in whatever way you need.

I feel like your home should be the place you walk into, take a deep breath and feel peace.

A focal point.

My office. This is one of my favorite rooms in our whole home. Every single inch of this room was intentional. And all created around the rug.

I saw this rug when we were very early on in the building process. As soon as Natalie posted it, I just it needed to live in my office (if you’re looking for a vintage rug is your place!). I had a vision for the space, but finding the anchoring piece brought it all together. It turned out even better than I could’ve imagined!!

Sunday Stills.

A moment of total honesty - sometimes I really struggle with what ‘should’ be vs what is. An example, our home is far from completed (there’s a longer story there but I’ll save it for another time), and there are spaces that barely have furniture and decor. Believe me when I say I fully realize this is not a real-life problem! However, as a designer I struggle with feeling ‘less-than’. Like it should be perfect / we can do some parts work on that later. 😂

I guess my point is, we all have spaces in our lives where we feel like something ‘should’ be where it is not, and the tiny squares we spend a lot of time on aren’t helping with that narrative. So for anyone today who needs to hear it, you are enough exactly where you are. May you do something today that brings you joy and feeds your soul. And I’ll be over here working on shifting my inner dialogue to gratitude instead of not enough. 🥰

Let’s talk decorating for Halloween. Especially when it’s not your thing.

Our kids are big fans of Halloween. I am not. However, over the years I’ve bent a bit and incorporated more Halloween decor in with our fall decor. It truly makes them happy, and which makes me happy.

And there are easy ways to do this. Target is a fav spot for ‘spooky’ decor. There are always $1-$3 decor items that are Halloween themed. Such an easy way to add a touch of the season. We got a skeleton, named Captain Braid-beard, at Costco almost ten years ago. He comes out every year. And yes, on November 1 all of the jack-o-lanterns, skulls and spiders go right back in their storage bin. 🕷️

Instagram 👉🏻 Real Life

Alright friends - you guys asked, I listened. 😂 Here is the current state of my office. I truly love this space so much. I put so much time and energy into creating a space I knew would encourage me to be my most creative and I’m so happy with all the details.

However, I don’t know about you, but this fall has kind of kicked my tail feather. I am normally very organized, and as you can see from the state of my desk…currently I am not. Also, we couldn’t find the part of my desk that helps contain the cords so there’s cords everywhere (pet peeve of mine!).

But, it is what it is. And here we are. Hopefully this serves as a good reminder that carefully curated spaces aren’t where people live - it’s a beautiful frozen moment in time. 😉 Happy Thursday friends.

I haven’t been on socials this summer, and it’s been good for my soul.

I know for so many life feels very full, and rather uncertain right now. In our own world there has been much that hasn’t gone to plan - broken bones, broken dreams, new beginning and unexpected twists. I’ve decided to step off social media for the time being.

I leave you with some photos of our home captured by my unbelievably talented friend with florals and styling by another dear and incredibly gifted friend.

In this season, it is easy to look around and see all the hard, unjust and challenge. May you also have eyes to see the beauty and the good, those that love you and bring joy into your world, and find ways to make an impact for those whose voices have been silenced.

And one last note of wisdom - if you’re on a septic system, do not use half a bottle of bubble bath. Even for epic photos. We had bubbles coming out of our toilets. 😂😂

Take care friends. 💕

Let’s talk about the quiet poetry of a well designed bathroom. These are the spaces where your day begins with intention and ends with exhale. Every detail is designed to soothe, to restore, to offer a moment of stillness in the rush.

An Ode to the Arch

Beneath every arch is a love story—of form meeting function, of empires dreaming in stone. Once the spine of ancient aqueducts and the crown of cathedrals, the arch taught us that beauty can hold weight, and grace can stand the test of time. In every curve, a quiet echo of history. In every room it enters, a whisper of romance.

Let’s design with stories that last. Theses incredible spaces in order.
