Lather and Lathe

Lather and Lathe We are a husband and wife small business focused on creating handcrafted soaps and woodturnings. Welcome to Lather and Lathe soaps and woodturning.

Our soaps are hand crafted using organic and natural oils with rich butters. They are made in small batches, vegan and palm free. All fragrance oils, micas and botanical colorants are responsibly sourced and cruelty free. Our woodturnings are only created from repurposed trees. We will never cut down a tree just for the sake of making an item. Each wood item is unique
Commissioned items are always welcome.

April Soap Challenge Time!
"Under The Sea" is my entry into the Winner's Category.
This month we were to create a beach themed soap using any technique as long as we used cold process for a majority of the design.
My inspiration was an under water scene with a view of an island with a white sandy beach.
The bottom layer is cold process with soap dough coral reef. The translucent layer is clear melt and pour, and the top ocean, beach and island is cold process and is lightly scented with Beachside Mimosa from and my micas are from

I honestly NEVER work with melt and pour ... so I really was working outside my comfort zone. I learned so many lessons on what not to do if I ever try this again..... lol Note to self.... Get ULTRA Clear melt and pour!

Thank you for another month of learning Amy Warden and thank you for being our sponsor this month
Thanks for all of the love and encouragement J.D. Grieco - Artist

Just look at all that detail

"Azure Serenade"
This is a first for me!!!!
My entry for the March Soap Challenge Club - Brush Embroidery Technique was selected as the GRAND PRIZE WINNER in the Advanced Category! I am still surprised as there were soooo many beautiful entries.

We were challenged to create CP soap and decorate it using a cake/cookie decorating brush embroidery technique. I was inspired by the two-color brush embroidery technique in our tutorial, watched all of the videos about one hundred times, and practiced quite a bit!

For placement I traced an outline for the birds taking liberties with the formation of the feathers. The flowers were done free-hand.

I used small reusable "henna" cones to form tiny dots of wet soap and then created the texture using the flat side and the side of a very small nail brush to pull the wet colored soap through the middle to form feathers and petals.

Thank you everyone! I could not have done this a few years ago. I have learned so much in the Soap Challenge Club.

Thank you Amy Warden for teaching us this technique. Thanks to the Bubble Support Team for fielding all of our questions....You're the best!
Thanks to for supporting the Soap Challenge Club and for being this month's sponsor.
Special thanks to my husband Jim .d.grieco_artist xo! He is always so supportive, and always encourages me to persevere. See... I did come out of the soap room... eventually....lol
