From optical art to functional design. 🍷

What happens when a w**e rack becomes an architectural feature?

For this compact 70 sqm pasteria, we designed a completely bespoke w**e wall inspired by the geometric language of Victor Vasarely and Op Art.

Repeated timber elements shift in shape, depth and colour, creating an optical effect that changes as you move through the space. At the same time, every dimension was carefully developed around the proportions of a standard w**e bottle — making the artwork fully functional.

The result is a sculptural installation where storage, craftsmanship and visual identity become one.

Architecture, or an optical illusion?

“Zodchestvo” House — An Optical Dystopia is a conceptual residential project exploring how perspective can transform the way we perceive architectural space.

Created in 2010 for the CIS Young Architects Contest at Zodchestvo Festival, the project uses distorted volumes, perspective-based compositions and optical effects throughout both its exterior and interiors. From a specific viewpoint, the exterior even reveals the flat image of the Zodchestvo Festival logo.

The project was later nominated for the World Architecture Festival 2011 in the Houses category, with its presentation taking place in Barcelona.

A house designed not only to be inhabited, but to challenge perception.

A public space works best when people actually want to stay. A game of basketball, a quiet corner to sit, a bike ride through the park – public space is only complete when it’s lived in.

Have you noticed how many modern interiors feel calmer, cleaner, and more spacious? One of the details making that possible is something you might not even see: hidden doors.

By eliminating visible frames and trims, invisible doors blend seamlessly into the wall, creating uninterrupted surfaces and a minimalist look. It's a small architectural detail that makes a surprisingly big difference.

In our latest blog article, we explore why hidden doors have become a defining feature of contemporary interiors and share examples from several of our own projects.

✨ Which would you choose for your home: a hidden door painted to disappear into the wall, or one finished in natural wood?

Wood and water don't usually go together.

Teak is the exception.

For centuries, this remarkable tropical hardwood has been trusted in luxury yachts, royal residences, spas, and premium homes because of its natural resistance to moisture, outstanding durability, and timeless beauty.

In our newest article, we explain why teak performs so well in bathrooms and showcase several of our own architectural projects where this extraordinary material plays a leading role.

If you appreciate thoughtful materials and timeless design, we think you'll enjoy this read.

As student housing shortages continue to challenge cities across Europe, finding smarter ways to use existing spaces has never been more important.

One promising solution lies right above our heads: underutilized attic spaces. By converting these areas into student housing, cities can create much-needed accommodation without expanding urban footprints or investing in large-scale new developments.

Our latest article explores the architectural, economic, and social benefits of adaptive reuse, showing how existing buildings can help address housing affordability and support sustainable urban growth, particularly in Armenia and other emerging markets.

What role do you think adaptive reuse should play in solving housing challenges?

What happens when a new, small building enters a conversation with a modernist icon?

Set next to Gropius House, this Bauhaus-inspired public bathroom reinterprets classic principles through a contemporary lens. A clean cubic form, glass blocks, and a carefully chosen color palette create a balance between presence and subtlety.

Beyond form, the project is about people – accessibility, clarity, and comfort. Even color becomes functional, supporting visibility and easing the experience for users with visual impairments.
