Before and after of the dining room in my early 1900’s project. I’m generally one to keep original woodwork, but painting the wainscoting was not only far more cost effective, but it also helped create a much more inviting space for this family (it also was one of the only spaces left in the home that didn’t already have painted woodwork, so it was feeling really disjointed from the rest of the house). I DID keep the wood beams and the French doors the original stain and created a custom stain for the floors to match them to the original woodwork.
