These chair stole the show today.
Comfortable, flexible, stylish. Classic with a slight kick.

Just realized these could also be my personal goals for next year.

Deep breath. And release.

For the first time in seven years, I have fewer than 15+ active projects.

At first, I panicked.

As a single mom and business owner, there is no second income or safety net to fall back on. Every day, I make the choice to believe in myself and in the business I’ve built.

But then I realized something: nine really great projects gives me room to breathe.

Room to create.
Room to think.
Room to fully serve each client the way I want to.

Right now, we have:

2 under construction
2 almost ready for furniture installation
5 in budgeting + preconstruction

Which also means… a LOT of time behind my computer.

So I was more than happy to have a reason to step away from my desk and stop by this project today.

And don’t worry—there are some really good things on the horizon.

But in the meantime, I’m going to catch my breath. I’m going to leave my computer at the office and go home without it. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I could do that.

And maybe this season is teaching me something.

I may never take on more than 10 projects at a time again.

I’m kind of loving it.

Absolutely nothing standard about this client or house. Living intercontinental for them means a unique perspective of tastes & design. Filled with art & treasures from around the world and unique opportunity to customize and create from scratch almost every piece of furniture.

The bed started out as a sofa design- we nixed the sofa but couldn’t let go of the design so we modified it to a bed.

The basement theatre sofa needed be oversized cozy where you can hang with your closest friends but become bed like for a relaxed movie night for two- hence the ottoman that works alone or becomes a part of the piece.

Shelving that gives storage but also separation of space. It wasn’t design for how it was installed but the day of the client made the call. My heart attack ensued but my amazing vendors pivoted as quick as they could and worked a miracle.

Point of the story- let’s create something together. I’ve got the people in my corner to make it happen.

Prof pics coming one day. Until the details are set you get these.

A big part of what I do is work with vendors & fabricators to get a project across the finish line. And each one of them works differently. To hand them the design in a way that minimizes mistakes, creates efficiency, and makes us all want to work together again- I love to see how they work & understand THEIR process.

It’s what makes me different.

Today, I got a tour from Fairfield Woodworks
We had a small but highly detailed traditional build last year. Coming up- we have an organic modern renovation. I look forward to putting our heads together to make this a success.

One thing I pride myself on is color forecasting. You wouldn’t know it by my projects because it’s really hard to get clients to push their vision forward when there’s only micro instances to support it.

8 years ago I picked this deep burgundy color as my branding color. 5 years ago I used in a project and the painter said it was an ugly color (ha!). That prompted me to use it on my ceiling in my shop 3 years ago. Compliments started coming & requests for the paint color. Now, to go all in on a project with an even deeper shade of it- using it in different ways throughout the house like a neutral.

One benefit to working with a designer who has been trained for decades to see where we’ve been and where we’re headed is that it gives you permission to trust their instincts. I’m always looking at ways to push beyond what you see today and prepare for the pendulum swing to what’s next & translate in a way that is classic. Ensuring you love your project for decades to come.

The start of a great room begins with a base. Think of this as the structure- walls, floors, cabinetry, trim.

Then we build for use- furniture, window treatments, lighting.

Then comes personality- accessories, art, trays, vases.

This picture was taken prior to the last step. A beautiful room that could belong to anyone. Layering in your personality is what makes a space for YOU.

Especially, during large construction projects is can be easy to be “good enough” by this stage. But trust me, go the extra mile to have a room that says it’s yours and continue to build with your treasures and memories over time.

Coming back to a favorite-
A favorite because the client expressed themselves, trusted the process, and saw the value in making decisions purely for them. A kitchen as memorable as they are- in all the right ways.
