The Wine Dark Sea. . .
Inspiration is sometimes hard to boil down into words and sentences; such concrete things they are! Citrus fruits combined with treasures from the sea and ancient Greek vessels came together in my mind, I suppose, from daydreaming of the Amalfi Coast mixed with a bit of Homer and an urge for loose, charcoal sketching. This became the jumping off point for watercolor paintings rather than the more refined & planned style of some of my other work.
