Artwork by Vicki Johnson My work is described as expressive and emotional - the special exploration of color, value, balance, I also paint with oils but my favorite is water media.

“I must confess, I have a life-long love affair with paint - especially with all water based paints. I love to pour them, spontaneously and with absolutely no fear and with no preconceived notions. The beautiful combinations that result are not possible with any other process. I love to mix watercolor with acrylic and sometimes even metallics. They react differently when you mix the medias. Some p

igments are heavier and sink under the lighter weight ones, and they blend and mix differently. It is like a roller coaster - you have to realize that your control is limited and just hang on for the ride!”

It’s a busy weekend with lots of fun stuff: The North Carolina Watercolor Society - Central Division show in Hummin’Bird Hall closes tomorrow. (Red Oak Brewery); Dunleath PorchFest is tomorrow (https://www.dunleath.org/porchfest-attending) and Sternberger Artist Center will be open to the public with The Marshall Muse Gallery only a short stroll from PorchFest; and there is always something fun happening at Bitters Social House.
