When you are dreaming of the first table, but the table you have is covered in paint and glue, you get to work transforming it into everything you dreamed it could be!

When you live in an apartment, it’s hard to find ways to customize your space. A fun, easy, and inexpensive way to change things up is with peel and stick wallpaper (this one is from Target). This project took just a few hours and has major impact in this room. When I move out of this apartment, I’ll be able to easily remove this paper.

Want to add something new in your space? Ivy and Rose Interiors is here to help!

My latest project is a simple side table update. This table was originally a dark wood, almost black color and it just wasn't making my client happy anymore. So I've updated for her and now she can enjoy this great "new" table for years to come. Would you be interested in some how-to videos on my process for updating a piece like this?

Hi All! I thought you might like to know a little bit about me! I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and have spent the last 14 years in Greenville, South Carolina. I really enjoy both of these wonderful places. I have been interested in Interior Design my whole life. I remember taking sheets of graph paper as a kid and drawing up plans for my house. I seem to remember a lot of strange angles, but that was the 80's! I've so enjoyed being able to make my space feel like a home. This can be done in any apartment, home or even just your own room! What I have learned over the years is that we all have these creative ideas that we want to incorporate into our spaces. I'm here to tell you that you CAN do this! And I will help you along the way!

Decorating and design do not have to be only for people who have lots of money. My goal is to show you how you can build your space to be exactly what you want using what you already have, second hand items or where to get new items that won't break the bank but aren't cheap.

In my spare time I teach yoga and you can follow my yoga page at Ivy Yoga - Jill Adrien. I also have two teenage daughters that keep my busy as well.

One of my favorite things to do is to refresh items with paint. This is a great example of a simple project that turned this discarded piece of furniture (that I got for free from a friend) into a current and fun piece for my home.

I am a huge proponent of making decorating updates easy! As this was a free piece of furniture, I don't worry about trying something new! You can see that there were two different colors on the original piece. All I did was wipe it down, apply a coat of primer, and then a couple of coats of white paint. Another major change was to swap out the drawer pulls. I ordered these simple leather pulls from Amazon and installed them in the same holes that were already there. Now, I have this stunning "new" plant stand that I love!

When you are first trying projects like this, start with something you already have that you don't like or that you have been thinking of getting rid of. You might just find that you can turn that eye sore into one of your favorite items in your home!

What is holding you back from trying your hand at updating a piece of furniture? Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

Hi all of you beautiful, creative humans! One thing that I do to help calm myself, especially during trying times is to take walks. I try to get outside for at least 15 minutes a day. One of my favorite things to do while I'm out is to stop and smell the flowers! I know, so cliche, but it is also so fun and relaxing. I have been using this time to work on my photography skills. So here were a few beauties from my walk last week. Enjoy and have the best week!

I haven’t painted for a long time. It really is one of my favorite things to do. To transform things from boring to amazing. These chairs and their matching dining table were given to me a couple of years ago by a good friend when she no longer needed them. That sat in my basement until I decided to take on the task of refurbishing them. I sanded down the chairs and even repaired the one in the first photo. They originally had an oak seat. I tried a gray wash but didn’t love it. I took this set with me when I moved out on my own almost a year ago. I’m now ready to transform these chairs into my current dream. Can’t wait to see the finished (for now) product!

Here is that same frame, now in its new home with a new paint job, some strings going across to attach photos to it with clothespins. Looking forward to seeing this full of pictures!
