Hannah Crider is a BS in Music Major with a focus in piano pedagogy and collaborative piano. She’s from the beautiful state of Michigan and she’s serving as President this semester. She loves ice cream and popcorn 🍿 Some of her other hobbies are baking, reading, playing games, and spending time with friends 📚 If she could play any other instrument, she would want to learn harp. One of her favorite composers is John Adams!

Secretary—Hannah Hoy

Hannah Hoy is a piano performance major with a focus in piano pedagogy & collaborative piano, along with a minor in Spanish. Originally from the vibrant island city-state of Singapore, she loves & misses spicy food & the tang yuan soup her grandma makes 🍡Through teaching piano, she quickly discovered how much she loves working with little musicians. Outside of music, she loves cooking, taking pictures, sightseeing, & anything involving matcha 😋 If she could learn any instrument instantly, she’d choose the harp & one of her favourite composers is definitely Debussy!

Treasurer—Matthew Roberts

This is Matthew Roberts! He is a Music Education major in the instrumental track with a piano principal proficiency. He is from Wilmington, North Carolina, and will serve as Treasurer for MTNA this year. He has been playing piano for over 13 years, and his favorite composer is Frédéric Chopin. One of his favorite things to do when he is not busy with schoolwork or music is to cook and bake 👨🏻‍🍳 If he could instantly learn any instrument, it would be the accordion 🪗

Vice President—Emmalein Merkle

Emmalein Merkle is a sophomore Music Education major focusing in piano 🎹 She is from New Jersey and has 6 younger siblings. She has been playing piano since the age of 6 and has had the blessing to be in a musical family and surrounded by music for her whole life. As a Music Education major, Emmalein wants to pursue teaching, either private music lessons or a school music teacher. If she could learn any instrument instantly, she would choose oboe. Other than music, Emmalein enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time outside☀️

Resource day! Our chapter had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Davis-Everhart last year, and her podcast is a fantastic resource for teachers!

2025-2026 has been a great year of conferences for our chapter! Last fall, we attended our state conference and our VP presented a poster on Whole Body Learning. Today, our secretary and faculty sponsor were able to attend the national collegiate conference in Columbia!
