Some folks pass up the ugly little candle holders at the thrift store… and that is how treasures end up at my house.

I love giving the forgotten ones a second chance with a coat of paint and a brand new purpose. Suddenly that bargain-bin brass bird becomes a pedestal fit for a pretty teacup, crystal bowl, teapot, or whatever darling thing deserves a little height and attention.

Shelves and china cabinets love layers, and a simple riser like this adds charm, dimension, and that collected-over-time look we all adore. Fancy decorating secret: sometimes the best pieces started out looking absolutely questionable.

Moral of the story: never underestimate an ugly thrift store candle holder. She may just be one can of paint away from greatness. ✨
