Microwalrus

MicroWalrus? This thing was emerging from what looks like a trichrome, which are starlike structures found on plant leaves. But how could they get on a windowsill mixed in with New York City soot? A further image search suggested it was a Volyn biota, which are fossilized microorganisms found in rock samples from miarolitic cavities of igneous rocks collected in Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Who knows? Check out all three images on this posting.

The scanning electron microscope (SEM) generates images in grayscale. There are no glass optics involved (go here: https://myscope.training/SEM_SEM_Basics). Adding color is a personal choice and is not necessarily based on what the true color of the subject is, or should be.

Creating art with the electron microscope does not require identifying what the subject is. Think about that for a while and tell me your thoughts.
