I had to switch up my available patterns platform and here's why...

I started Punky's Patterns Co as a way to separate my maker side from my pattern side. For non fiber art peeps they are two separated and different beasts. I went with Ribblr because it touted an online presence where I would get my patterns out to the masses. Since this is no longer a full time gig, I decided to make all my patterns available for free (there's so much behind paywalls as it is) and thought this would be a much better alternative to Etsy (can't do free). Fast forward to the present...I won't be uploading any further patterns to this site. Not only do I disagree with a lot of their PR (dragging Hobbii yarn over the transparent AI policies); there is constant no AI slop slogan. They may not be inundated with AI, but I often question if people are less than honest about their pattern designing. Plushie design is similar, but some patterns appear word for word similar or just maybe those really messed up pattern directions are AI generated 🤷 The other conundrum is these upgrades are not user friendly or require their "gems" as payment. I don't want a platform where I have to watch copious ads just to be able to upload my patterns more effectively.

I have existing patterns which will stay because I did build a following, but any new releases will be on Kofi. I will still have free patterns and they will be downloaded PDFs. They are much more detailed than those offered on Ribblr. I think this is a better alternative than a basic form. I will include the link below

Making some progress

I modify my own patterns. Right now, I'm about half way through the first of four placemats. I've had a few comments about the pricing and trying to figure out a way to make them a little more affordable. Unfortunately, I think the price will stand because placemats are fiber eaters. To make them kitchen worthy, they do have to be made of cotton yarn which can be pricey

Making videos is hard. I'll be working on a video to showcase items I have available for immediate shipping (they're already made). I will still be making cute stuffies, but due to the overwhelming amount of makers selling those types of items, they will be ordered only. I have so much inventory and nothing is moving

I decided to scrap the other placemats although I do like the double thickness. Here's the progress of a new design. Unfortunately, it does use approximately the same amount of yarn, but sits flatter. This one uses a tunsian crochet technique and hook. The different parts will be sewn together to make a single placemat

New technique!

I managed to find one of my tunsian crochet hooks. I had to do a refresher and can only do the simple crochet stitch, but it will be nice to change it up a bit. I'm planning a very simple reusable napkin pattern

Making sample colors for the placemats. Changing up a little from ready made to preorder/made to order. This helps with managing costs and inventory control. Due to the materials costs, these full sized double thickness placemats will be 4 for $65. I know these are priced a little higher than most makes, but it uses more materials and uses cotton yarn. This makes them reusable and washable/dryable
