After dealing with a cabinet company that failed and trying to get our money back, my son and I came up with the center island and more. The other cabinets came from Lowe’s. The island has many elements to it, my favorite being the ammo boxes that I turned into drawers. After I put them together my son managed to get the drawer glides on, he built the island and it turned out amazing

Sometimes it pays to look around and see what materials you can find. I knew I was wanting beams, just couldn’t find what I wanted. Finally went to my local Ace and asked for what I wanted. After finally talking to the pro he took me out back and showed me beams that were heading to the dump. $125 later and lots of sanding, waxes, stains and more sanding and white wash... tahhh dahhhhh. The walls are done with Lauan that were done in a watered down black paint. Then a hidden door and metal.

Sometimes you just need to think outside the box. The tool box was $69 from Home Depot, oil pan was $19, faucet was a little pricey but the tool box and oil pan balanced out the cost. Side lights by the mirror were under $10 each, mirror on clearance... end result... awesome

I love shopping after Xmas... yes after Xmas. A lot of Xmas accessories go on clearance, it’s a great tune to pick up a few pieces and turn them into something amazing. These candles sticks didn’t start out this way. The lower half were on clearance at home lobby for very cheap. Spray painted them with a chrome paint. The upper part where votives from Big Lots and in clearance for $5 each. Glued the glass with E6000 to the base and for under basically for under $30 you get 3 one if a kind candle sticks.

When you don’t have a big budget but you want that one of a kind piece. I bought this end table for $25. Sanded it down, painted it and sanded some of the edges back, used paper from hobby lobby for the insets, put casters on it... for very little money I ended up with and awesome table.

It is getting that time of year, pumpkins, snowmen and lots of fun... holiday decor can be expensive... so why not make it. We are in the middle of construction and have a lot of scrap wood. Almost everyone has some type of building going on around them. If not spend about $6 on a piece of wood. Most big box stores will cut it to size for you if you don’t have a saw.

Sand down your piece of wood, if you don’t have sand paper just leave it rough. I used left over paints and stains. There is no rule that says you have to have orange pumpkins.. do what ever color you want. I used a piece of a branch for the stem. For the eyes on the one I used large nail heads. You can use paint to paint on eyes, sticks for a nose, use whatever you have or can find. I save ribbons of packages or left over pieces that I had.

Use a hot glue gun, E6000, power grap, whatever type of glue you have. Have fun with it.

Sorry I over the last year it’s been pretty crazy, selling properties, moving to a new state... remolding... and just life. I have posted a lot of things on Faux Interiors & Interior Design... hopefully soon I will get back to posting some inexpensive and amazing new things... don’t forget you can post your pics and ask for some ideas... I will try to help you out. In the meantime... think these doors were expensive... not really and if you can use a saw and have a few tools you can make them yourself... we did.
