Alebrijes are a traditional folk art style from Oaxaca, Mexico. Each piece is hand-carved from copal wood and painted with vibrant colors and intricate patterns, making every one completely unique. Many people believe alebrijes represent spirit guides or protectors.

We are proud to work directly with a family of artisans from San Martín Tilcajete, where this tradition has been passed down through generations, and that connection is really special to us.

The town is best known for its beautiful alebrije art , murals and for inspiring parts of Disney’s Coco, which helped introduce this Oaxacan folk art tradition to people around the world. We hope these bring you as much joy as they do us 🙂

Our first event as vendors & WOW.
I can finally breathe. 🧘‍♀️

We have worked so hard, not only these last few weeks, but the past few months to get Mercadito La Osa on its paws. 🐾

This is truly a project we are passionate about. We traveled through different towns hand-curating this collection of artisan-made pieces that tell the story of Oaxaca 🇲🇽 From family workshops in the Sierra Sur mountains to busy local mercados, every piece was chosen with purpose and admiration for the people and traditions behind it.

I hope everyone who made a purchase with us this weekend, or received one of our pieces as a Mother’s Day gift, felt all of the love, intentionality, and care that we put into each and every treasure. It truly was a joy!

Whether a piece connects you to your roots, or you’re someone who loves learning about the traditions, artistry, and beauty of cultures beyond your own, we hope it makes you feel something special like it does me.

Thank you to everyone who supported us this weekend, shared kind words, stopped by our booth, or believed in this little dream of ours.
