🌱 WE ARE PLANTING SEEDS!
Today at Martha K. Glaze Regional Youth Detention Center, our Life Skills session focused on:
“READY FOR REAL LIFE”
We talked with the young men about the things that will matter when they step into adulthood:
✨ Self-Care — taking care of your mind, body, appearance, and environment
⏰ Time Management — learning how to manage your time instead of allowing time to manage you
💰 Money Basics — understanding bills, budgeting, saving, investing, and making responsible choices
💼 Legal Ways to Make Extra Money — turning skills, talents, and ideas into income
🤝 Peer Pressure & Choosing Your Circle — understanding that everybody cannot go where you're trying to go
❤️ Dating & Relationships: Who You Choose Matters — recognizing how relationships can influence your peace, decisions, future, and goals
A few months ago, I spoke to these young men about starting their own businesses, making better choices, and focusing on self-development.
Today, they got to hear from someone who is actually doing it.
A very special THANK YOU to Joshua Kelly for sharing his testimony with the young men. Before even reaching 21, Josh has become an author and clothing-line owner. He showed them that age does not determine when you can begin building your future.
I had such a proud moment watching the room.
As Joshua Kelly spoke, the young men were focused on him. They were listening. They were watching.
Sometimes you don't know which conversation, lesson, testimony, or person will change the direction of a young person's life.
That's why we keep showing up.
We are planting seeds. 🌱
They may not grow today.
They may not grow tomorrow.
But we're giving these young men something positive to carry with them and reminding them:
