Did you know cats love woven seats also? This week I redid these barstools for some friends whose feline fur babies had used the seats as scratching surfaces. Rather than trying to weave the new seat on the wooden inserts that the originals were on, I did rush fiber seats woven directly onto the frame of the stools. This made for a prettier surface, and a more comfortable seat!

Last week I had the privilege of weaving a new seat and back onto this amazing folding chair that my customers purchased shortly after they were married in the 60's. This vintage baby stroller has proved to be a challenging, but incredibly rewarding project! When I was asked if I could restore this beautiful piece of history a few weeks ago I genuinely had no idea whether or not I could do it. This project required just about everything short of actually reweaving the wicker. New paint, new wheels, new fabric lining, new trim, and even a new little pillow to match the bonnet lining! Thank you Rob and Sharron for trusting me to undertake this project for y'all, I hope this piece can be treasured by you and your family for many years to come!

This week this beautiful chair got a new pressed cane back! I was given a little bit of creative freedom on this project and used it to stain and paint the spline that holds the cane into the back of the chair so that it would blend into the chair itself more seamlessly.

As always I am so grateful to everyone who trusts me with restoring your furniture! If you have a piece that needs new cane I would love to be the one to do it for you!

It's been a great start to the week here at Creekside Caning! These three beautiful dining chairs got new rush fiber seats woven onto them to replace their damaged original seats.

This week I completed a full restoration on these two ladderback chairs that my customer inherited from his grandmother.

When I do jobs like this I am not only restoring the chairs themselves, but also preserving the stories and memories that go along with them. It is a great honor to be able to allow these memories to live on, and to allow for many new ones to be made!
