My son is getting married and the wedding is India so Thistle & Ivy Designs will be closed through December 3rd but you will still have a couple of weeks before Christmas to get your last minute custom ornaments, stocking tags and gifts made so check back after December 3rd!

Operation: Next Level for Thistle & Ivy Designs
Mission: Prep to upgrade and move the shop.

I have outgrown my little loft shop so, over the holiday weekend, Corey & Jacob from Titan Power Electric LLC installed new wiring, dedicated outlets and wall switches for my upcoming move to the new, much bigger shop. They worked so hard, so late and they did a very professional job. I highly recommend Titan Power for any electrical needs! Not only is it a local small business but also a woman-owned business, both of which I am passionate about supporting!

My new Replica Surfaces & Studio arrived today!! This dynamic portable, adjustable and interchangeable photo studio is going to help to elevate my product photography skills to the next level. HUGE news (coming soon) means BIG changes for Thistle & Ivy Designs so I’m sharing some of my goals for 2023 with you! These goals are going to help transition my business to the next level and I hope you will all continue to stick around for the ride! ❤️ It’s going to be so exciting!

* Update thistleandivydesigns.com
* Revamp and reorganize my whole shop workspace
* Develop more targeted product lines
* Improve my product photography skills
* Learn to use my router
* Open a boutique Etsy shop for smaller, easy to ship items
* Be more present on social media
* Turn my repeat customers into “influencers” with free product opportunities!

I’m sure I will add to these goals but this seems like a good set to start 2023 out on the right foot!

I have spent the last year working behind the scenes on numerous custom designs and Thistle & Ivy Designs has been quietly growing but I have neglected social media completely! Egads! That is about to change though because Thistle & Ivy Designs has HUGE news for later in the first quarter of 2023!!!! And I do mean HUGE!! So stay tuned!!! Excitement is coming!!!

Have I mentioned how much I love doing custom work? I am working on a custom project for Bridgete Newman, Realtor and I squealed with delight when she sent me her logo - those clean lines are absolutely a laser creator’s dream. I couldn’t resist whipping her up a pair of earrings and she will be sporting her logo proudly at a conference this week!

🔵🟡Thistle & Ivy Designs month long fundraiser for United Help Ukraine ended over the weekend. Thanks to our customers and followers, we were able to donate $626.44 to United Help Ukraine to provide humanitarian aid and relief to the people of Ukraine. That is a LOT of earrings in one month!!!! Thank you to all who participated in the fundraiser. 🇺🇦

🔵🟡The people of Ukraine still need our help though! Therefore, we have decided to extend the opportunity by pledging 20% of all profits from all Ukrainian Shop purchases to UnitedHelpUkraine through December 31st, 2022. Please continue to share and get the word out!

Thanks to the incredible response from my followers so far, together we have raised over $600 for in just the first two weeks of the fundraiser!! And almost exclusively from earrings! Wow! You all ROCK!! This is an amazing number for my tiny one woman business BUT, we have 13 days left so how much MORE can we raise together?? Can we reach $1000?? The fundraiser for United Help Ukraine is off to a great start!! I spent all weekend cutting and hand painting (the heart studs and the painted teardrops are the most popular, so far) and the first round of orders went out this morning! When I first started my business in November of 2020, I made a custom cyrillic holiday ornament for a Ukrainian-American friend. She shared it on social media and orders started coming in from the local Ukrainian community. Ever since, the Greater DC area Ukrainians have been hugely supportive of my small business. So much so that I participated in a fundraiser last Christmas to support a local Ukrainian school and created a Ukrainian Market on my website. I went above and beyond to learn to write and create specific words in the Ukrainian language, I sourced and purchased a collection of fonts that support the cyrillic alphabet and I triple check my products to ensure they reflect the Ukrainian culture in a respectful manner. Needless to say, the local Ukrainian community holds a special place in my heart. The helplessness they feel right now as their ancestral homeland is so senselessly ravaged and their family and friends fight for their lives and their way of life — it’s devastating. I want to do my part to help Ukraine in honor of the bond I have with the local community so I have added several earrings and a magnet to my website.
