This Saturday if anyone is interested in learning how to spin your own yarn!

Join Sue Duncan and Joanna Huffman at the Stonecipher Kelly Homeplace to learn the basics of making your own yarn from natural wool fiber! Spinning wheels will be provided and there will be various wool fibers for participants to spin. Please bring your own snacks or lunch and drinks. This program is for participants 10 years and older, children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required with a fee of $35 for materials and instruction. I’ll be setting up today in Wartburg at St. Pauls for their Christmas Market.

I will have some of my handwoven placemats, rag rugs, knitted washcloths, hats, handspun yarn, feed sack bags, etc.

Come by for some shopping, activity for the kids, and get into the Christmas Spirit because it’s never too early.

Fall is a busy time for events!

I will NOT be at the Farmers Market on Sept 20. I will be at the Stonecipher-Kelly house that day.

I decided to make a calender so folks can see at a glance where I will be and what I’ll be doing.

This is a wonderful site and staff have been working very hard at opening up the Stonecipher-Kelly house.

Carrying on with the Textile Year, the flax is retted and drying. I have secured the loan of a flax break, acquired a few hackles (but not all I need 🤦‍♀️), and a scutching knife!

I was lacking a scutching board…….
Enter *Husband of the Year*, and look at the beautiful scutching board he made for me!! 🤩

The textile year continues on! My small cotton patch is growing really well. I believe the cotton will continue to grow until first frost.

The dye plants are also doing well; looking at harvesting some plant material to dry and and use as a powder.

Most folks use plants fresh, so I’m not sure how this will work. 😂
