Simon Says… show me your favorite cozy corner, décor wall, or a view looking out. I’ve attached a photo of mine... our backyard. On Saturday mornings I’ll step out there with a cup of coffee and just stare across a mile of field and forest. No rush, no sirens, no city noise… just quiet country, the breeze in the trees, and every now and then a tractor rolling by during harvest. It’s one of those places that helps me slow down and start the day with a thankful heart to God. I'd love to see a photo of your cozy corner, décor wall, or peaceful view below. SOLD — A sweet little trio headed off to its new home.

Good morning, friends. Here's a chunky set of x3 barnwood porch pumpkins, with the tallest standing 16", that went to their new home last season. These sets always make me smile, they’ve got that warm, cozy, front‑porch charm that feels like crisp mornings, flannel shirts, and the first hint of fall in the air.

The Customer who snagged this set was thrilled to get them in time for her seasonal decorating, and I’m grateful every time one of these pieces finds a place where it’ll help make someone’s home feel welcoming.

If you’ve been eyeing a set for your own porch, I’ve got more barnwood ready and would be happy to make another trio for you.

Stay cool out there, northern Indiana’s been giving us those warm August days, but fall is peeking around the corner.

I’ve been thinking lately about how much what we listen to shapes the way we work. For me, when I’m in the shop or sketching out a new Storywood piece, I usually hop on YouTube and search "English Countryside Ambience" which is often gentle piano, a soft breeze through the trees, birds calling from somewhere just out of sight, maybe even a creek slipping past a mossy bank. Nature has always been a safe place for my soul to slow down and get grounded again from the chaos of fast‑paced city life.

That’s just who I am, and it’s the world I’m also building here at Storywood... a place where you can breathe a little deeper, feel a little calmer, and escape into something simple and beautiful.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m actually a songwriter, and my influences stretch across all kinds of genres. But when I’m studying, designing, or painting, I always seem to return to calm, classical pieces that help me re‑tune my soul.

What about you? What do you listen to while you work? Music? Podcasts? Ambience? I’d love to hear your favorites — maybe I’ll find something new to add to my playlist.

Happy Tuesday, my tattered‑décor lovin’ friends... I need your opinion.

After finishing our patriotic eagle, I couldn’t shake the idea of offering a patriotic butterfly for folks who love Americana all year long. I finally made two versions, and now I’m stuck… so I’m turning to you.

Which one’s your favorite... This or That?

This: the classic butterfly silhouette, simple, timeless, and easy to pair with any porch or entryway décor.

That: the swallowtail version, a little more ornate, a little more whimsical, and full of that farmhouse‑patriotic charm.

Finished Product Spotlight... Barnwood Fruit & Veges 🍑 🌽🥑🍓

There’s a special kind of joy in finally finishing a project that feels home grown, and these barnwood fruit & veges sure do. I built this set last year for a gal who wanted her dining nook to feel like a cozy slice of Americana farm life. She arranged them all around her big “EAT” sign, each piece adding its own rustic personality, like little reminders of garden harvests and simple country suppers.

What I love most is how the faded colors and weathered grain make them feel like décor that’s lived a life… maybe hanging in a farmhouse kitchen decades ago, soaking up stories, laughter, and the smell of cornbread in the oven. That’s the heart of Storywood... capturing memory in wood.

What type of rustic décor can you imagine up in your space? A veggie trio for your kitchen? A fruit cluster for your breakfast nook? Something totally new?!

Howdy friend! I’m Chris, a barnwood folk artist building a quiet refuge in a loud world. My mission is to create décor that paints the picture of the moments we all hold close... picking & carving pumpkins with mom, dad, and siblings at the local patch...catching snowflakes on our tongues under a glowing winter sky...finding that perfect, good‑smelling Christmas tree at the farm... hopping into dad’s old farm truck just to ride into town with him, not for the errand, but for the time together. Every piece I make is meant to carry that generational comfort and give you a little escape you can hang right on your wall.

Today I’m highlighting one of my absolute favorites right now — my 250th Barn Tin Eagle.

I’m sharing a little collage: one photo of the finished piece, and one from before paint where you can see that authentic rusty barn roof tin. I love that contrast, the raw history and the finished celebration.

This eagle means a lot to me. First, it marks a special mile‑marker for the greatest country on earth. Second, it’s made from a material I just recently started using, old barn tin. The eagle is cut from that tin and mounted to a chunky piece of real barnwood.

To me, it’s a story within a story. The weathered grain speaks to our farming Americana past, and the eagle represents our freedom and liberty, the chance to work hard, support our families, and worship God.

I’m grateful for pieces like this that remind me why I love creating. Thanks for being here. God bless your Saturday. ❤️ ~Chris
