Just wrapped up our beginner sewing series!
Three classes later and these makers went from never touching a sewing machine to finishing their very own set of pillowcases. They learned the basics of machine sewing, used the burrito method to perfectly attach the cuffs, and sewed French seams so every raw edge is completely hidden. Clean finishes, proud faces, and pillowcases ready for real life.
So proud of this group. Watching someone go from “I’ve never sewn before” to holding something they made with their own hands never gets old.

The second class of our beginning sewing series is I. The books! The class did great cutting fabric and sewing the first pillowcase. Our last class will be this coming Sunday and we will finish our set of pillowcases. More classes will be coming soon!

The beginning sewing class started yesterday. Everyone did great learning how to use their machine! We’ll have 2 more sessions and end up with a set of pillowcases. More classes coming soon!

The beginning dressmaking class finished up yesterday. The class did great! We learned about fabrics and grain lines, basic pattern reading, measuring and cutting, how to use binding, made pockets and learned to use a basting stitch to gather the skirt. Everyone ended up with a really cute, loose fitting summer dress that’s perfect for a BBQ, a warm evening on the porch or even a bathing suite cover up! I’m so proud of all my students, they tackled this project fearlessly and learned some valuable new skills! The next beginning sewing class series is open for enrollment! It will be on 3 consecutive Sundays starting on August 2nd. All classes are 2-4 pm and are held at the Artisan Hatchery in Gallatin.
