The Moon rabbit or Moon hare is a mythical figure in East Asian and indigenous American folklore, based on pareidolia interpretations that identify the dark markings on the near side of the Moon as a rabbit or hare.

This moon festival, some-times called the Mid-Autumn Festival, is celebrated throughout Asia under different names. The tradition of celebrating the Harvest Moon came to Japan from China in the Heian Period, a time known for the aristocrats' dedication to aesthetics and poetry. People would gather outdoors under the full moon and recite poetry, play music, and enjoy seasonal dishes.

Daitengu (大天狗), are often pictured in a more human-like form than their underlings, and due to their long noses, they may also called hanatakatengu (鼻高天狗, tall-nosed tengu).

Daitengu live solitary lives on remote mountaintops, far removed from humanity. Their lives are spent in thoughtful meditation, intent on perfecting themselves. Daitengu possess greater pride, wisdom, and power than their kotengu cousins, although they can also be just as savage and unpredictable. This savagery combined with intelligence makes daitengu more dangerous. In fact, natural disasters and other great catastrophes are sometimes attributed to the wrath of a powerful daitengu. However, daitengu also possess more self-restraint; there are stories of daitengu giving aid to worthy humans.

Crow Tengu (烏天狗), commonly known as karasu Tengu, is a legendary creature that has a beak-like face, like a crow, and can fly freely, like the Daitengu. Also known as a small tengu or a blue tengu. Although named as a crow, many are covered with feathers similar to birds of prey.

They are very territorial and will protect the forest areas in which they dwell. They have skills with weapons and were known to train samurai warriors.
