This year’s Christmas angel has begun — starting, as always, in pencil.

There’s something I love about this stage… the quiet, the patience, the slow emergence of form and feeling.

My goal is to complete her by July so she can be printed in time for the Christmas season.

I’m looking forward to sharing more as she develops.

Seraphina Vaelora

Watercolor painting

✨ Original watercolor painting ✨

Her name suggests “valley”—a place where love must descend and endure, not just soar.

Long before roses were ever gathered for love, she already existed—born in the quiet moment a human heart first chose love over fear.

She is often called upon Valentine’s Day, when roses are exchanged and promises are spoken in candlelight—but her true work begins in the quiet that follows. She lingers in the spaces where love falters, where doubt seeps in, where distance begins to grow unnoticed.

Her wings carry the blush of first love, feathered with a warmth that speaks of devotion—the kind that survives winter. The hearts woven into her translucent mantle are not merely decorative; they echo the vows once spoken in earnest, carried quietly across time.

She does not inspire infatuation. She protects endurance.

When two people choose forgiveness instead of pride, she is there.

When someone risks vulnerability instead of silence, she is there.

When love matures from fire into steady light, she stands behind it, unseen.

Her halo does not glow because she is perfect—it glows because she understands that love endures.

And bravery is sacred.

A glimpse while she’s still becoming.

There’s always a moment when a painting stops feeling like an idea and starts feeling like someone.

She’s not finished yet, but she’s close.

She was meant for Valentine’s Day—but she stayed, somewhere beyond it… in the quieter kind of love that endures.

Amara, Angel of the Maple’s Turning
Watercolor painting, 2025

✨ Original watercolor painting ✨

When the maples burn and the air carries the scent of change—cool and faintly sweet against the skin—she moves among them.

In the amber hush of autumn, she is a quiet witness of the season. Present as the year loosens its grip, as color deepens and light softens toward winter.

The elders call her Amara—a name that holds sweetness and ache together. They speak of the maple as a teacher of more than one lesson. In spring, it offers its sweetness—sap rising after the long cold, sustaining life when the earth is still waking. That sweetness is not indulgence; it is survival. It is what endures and gives because it has endured.

But the maple does not teach only through sweetness.
In autumn, it turns inward. What once reached outward now gathers itself back. Leaves blaze briefly before they fall, returning to the soil that once fed them. The tree does not cling to what cannot be carried through winter. It keeps what will sustain life and lets the rest fall away.

Here, in the blaze before winter, Amara accompanies what has been gathered and what must now be set down. Not everything is meant to be taken forward. What is carried into winter is chosen with care.

Those who notice her feel a quiet clarity—a steadiness, as if something long held has finally been named and laid aside. What is released has already shaped what remains. In the space it leaves behind, there is breath enough for what comes next, and a warmth held in the fading light.

When the last leaves fall, Amara recedes with the color from the trees.

Winter waits.

She’s taking shape slowly, feather by feather, leaf by leaf, as this piece quietly finds its voice. I love this tender middle stage where color begins to sing and the story starts to reveal itself.
Every layer feels like autumn settling in, full of warmth, change, and soft transformation. 🍁

Some say she arrives in flickers of candlelight and the hush of memory,
a presence felt more than witnessed,
stepping softly between worlds
when hearts are most ready to remember.

This is Miriëlle, a light between worlds—
a celestial spirit who visits Earth to inspire.
Her gown echoes the Renaissance age—a time when beauty was shaped by reverence,
and craftsmanship was considered an offering.
Her porcelain skin and golden hair shimmer in candlelight—
not of this world, yet intimately woven into its rhythm.

The red velvet ribbon in her hands is not merely a festive ornament—
it is the Thread of Intention.
She prepares to tie it into a bow,
a symbolic act of binding spirit and matter,
of completing what is given with care and beauty.
In that simple gesture, she transforms offering into devotion—
turning each gift, each moment, into something sacred.

Two candles burn beside her.
Their twin flames glow beneath the evergreen branches of the tree, silent but steady.
They represent the sacred duality within each of us:
the self that walks the world, and the eternal self that remembers the stars.
In their light, we are reminded that something luminous lives within us—
always waiting to be remembered.
Every act of love, beauty, and intention draws us closer to our original wholeness—
so the two burn as one.

The Christmas tree beside her stands not only as festivity,
but as an axis between Earth and Heaven—
an evergreen reminder that life, even in the quiet cold of winter,
is persistent, sacred, and cyclical.
