Several months ago, I posted a special project I was planning for my cousin. I took on the challenge to create a replica of a vintage safe door with a dutch theme as a nod to our families heritage. Well I am proud to share the results!!

Now on to the process. It all started with a new door and a corbel. After priming both pieces, I applied a custom blend of the paint colors Ash and Coal Black by Fusion Mineral Paint.

Next I sectioned off a space to apply a decoupage print of a “Windmill on a Polder Waterway, Known as 'In the Month of July' by Dutch artist Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël” reproduced by Mint by Michelle. Cousin Tom & I worked together to create a frame around the windmill print using a heat- bendable decorative wood moulding by WoodUBend. This really made the print pop!

The next step required help from my friend, Michele, who created the stencil for the name plate. The decal worked beautifully! The name plate is “Teitsma Safe & Lock Co.” and the origin is “Friesland, Netherlands” which is where both sides of Toms family is from. The stencils and frame were finished with Eternal Gold Decor Wax by Redesign with Prima. The door was also framed with a stripe using the same decor wax.

So thrilled on how this turned out! It really completes the room and Tom looks great standing next to it!

Another successful project completed!

This Pier One lingerie chest started its life with a dark brown stain and colonial-style hardware. We transformed the chest in a custom paint blend using Wise Owl One Hour Enamel Paint in the color Antique Villa with a few drops of Prairie Sunset by Fusion Mineral Paint for a creamy finish. The ghost stripes and drawer trim were finished with Wise Owl One Hour Enamel in the color Snow Owl and a light coating of Fusion Mineral Paint Pearl Metallic for a bit of shimmer. New ch*****ne hardware completed this chest with a modern feel. Simply elegant and really lightens up the space!
