Taking a short break, at least that is my thinking at this time, from my Christmas piece. Instead this painting is on my easel right now. The block in was done sometime ago, so it may look familiar.

A young child dreaming about his “boomer” Christmas. This is a conglomerate of drawing, photos and using Procreate to pull it together. This will become what I will use as reference for the actual painting. The young boy dreaming, will become me at about that age. Looking through the window I will have Santa and his sleigh flying away from us, and of course adding color to the treats coming out of the sock.
This is nostalgic for me because the toys, candies and nuts shown are actually what I had gotten for Christmas when I was a child. I really do not consider this, as is, artwork, but instead a tool to use.

Thank you to all who follow me. The reason for a huge gap of not posting is because I was working on a piece that was to be a surprise wedding gift. If I had posted my progress on it there might have been a chance of it being seen and ruining the surprise.
Thank you Dawn Swan Hunter for the privilege in getting to do this piece for you.

I would like some feedback on when you think of Christmas, what visions do you see? You probably have several different “pictures” in mind, please if you would share those with me. The more feedback I get, the better. I always toy with the idea, during this time of year, of painting a Christmas painting, but struggle with conceiving a composition. I am not just looking for a landscape but any subject matter you may have in your vision. Even if your vision is personal , it may have an universal appeal. Thank you in advance for your help.

Have not posted in sometime. Working on a piece I cannot share yet so, here is something totally different from my usual work. It was done with watercolors, markers and color pencils. Hope it puts a little smile on your face.

I have completed the block-in. Because of the size and time required to finish this piece, I may go back and work on another completed block-in. By doing this I hope to renew my drive to finish this painting.

I am back at my easel. This is the progress on my latest piece, still working on the block-in.

I am going larger than usual this time. I am working on the block in for this 36x20 canvas. It will need to set on my easel for several weeks before I can get back to it. Will be spending some family time.
