From garden sketch to kitchen cheer.

Winter Garland began with the nigella seed pods in my garden, the ones I've collected over the years for holiday decorating, alongside maple helicopters and a few of the vintage glass ornaments I love. Swipe through to see it go from garden, to sketchbook, to towel.

It's half of my new Winter Gathering set, and you could win it. Join my newsletter before October 29 use the sign up link.

As a Brit we do elevenses (though generally at 10!) but I really like the Swedish word fika ☕ It means pausing in your day to sit down with a friend, a cup of something, and a slice of cake. This weekend, cake meant a proper coffee cake, the coffee-flavored kind with a strong coffee buttercream.
Meet Fall Fig 🍂 I painted it from figs off my neighbor's tree, and here it is lining a tray set for exactly that kind of slow, chatty moment.
My newsletter readers got first pick this week. From Thursday you'll find Fall Fig on my website and at stores around Portland such as Made Here and Cornell Farm. The Fall Fig tea towel pairs beautifully with Green Leaf Toss, if you are looking to make a gift set.
Want to be first in line next time? Next week my newsletter brings a limited-edition crow version of my Wildwood Trail towel, just in time for the last weeks of the crow art walk. Subscribers see it before it goes anywhere else.

Hello again, friends! 🌿

If you followed this page back when I was making journals and paper cuts — thank you for sticking around! A lot has changed. These days Greenstitch is all about sharing my joy of nature through my colorful tea towel designs.

Each design starts as a photo or sketch from my garden or a walk around Portland: blooming hollyhocks or clematis bursting with color, bees buzzing in the coneflowers, persimmons glowing in autumn sun. I start by sketching in pencil or acrylic markers, then turn the drawings into patterns. These are printed on soft, absorbent cotton and sewn into tea towels — the kind that just get better with every wash.

I'll be sharing new designs, behind-the-scenes peeks, and where to find me at markets this holiday season. Want first dibs on new releases and market dates? Tap "Sign Up" at the top of the page to join my newsletter.

So glad you're here! — Sue

Well I got there in the end - with only a few days kissed along the way. 100 days of carving a block print - often something I’d seen that day a flower, a newt or a moth, and sometimes just playing with pattern and seeing where it would take me.
The blocks are just 1.5” square - small enough to do one a day and large enough to have fun with composition and negative space.

I highly recommend if you’ve been thinking about it. My final@block is a quote from James McNeil Whistler - “no day without a line’” - so I am trying to stick with it.
