About the artist:
From my very first college class in ceramics I was hooked. The combination of creativity with science, food and community was exciting. Not only was the simple act of learning to make functional pots a challenge, but the mad science aspect of formulating new glazes from raw ingredients was

captivating. Each new kiln load was like opening presents on Christmas morning, always with new surprises. And since the effort of making clay, glazes, loading kilns and firing the work took so much labor, a community was formed, not just of classmates but of peers trying to perfect the art of functional pottery making. The real test came when it was time to use the work. Did the pitcher or teapot pour properly without dribbling liquid? Did the handle of the cup fit ones hand properly? These tactile cues of interaction and the shared critique of each others work helped me to grow as a potter an artist and a person. For over 30 years I have strived to make the very best pots I can. I exhibited some work in regional and national juried exhibitions, but what is most rewarding is the look of excitement on a customer's face when they find the pot that speaks to them and they share with me where it will live and how it will be used.
