SHE made a request to create a mural…I did and then wrote a note of what I thought described the piece
This striking mural against a deep blue twilight backdrop, the silhouette of a woman rises with quiet majesty, her head tilted upward in contemplation of quiet triumph. Her voluminous hair flows like a crown of defiance and grace, while her form strong, elegant, and unapologetic stands anchored amid a towering, futuristic cityscape. The skyscrapers loom not as threats, but as symbols of obstacles overcome: jagged, ambitious, and ultimately dwarfed by her presence.
What makes the piece profoundly moving is the radiant energy that connects and flows from her. Golden light spills from her hands and heart…cubes of pure luminescence drifting upward like answered prayers or hard-won victories…while a vibrant green aurora pulses around her, suggesting renewal, growth, and the slow, steady emergence after long nights. The emerald glow feels almost alive, a visual metaphor for the quiet force of patience that allows transformation to unfold layer by layer.
The dual figures (perhaps representing self and higher self, or past and future) reach toward one another through this luminous thread, embodying unbreakable inner strength…the kind forged in silence, in unseen struggles, in moments when no one is watching. Yet the upward gaze and open posture speak volumes about faith: not blind optimism, but a deep-rooted trust that something greater is at work, that dawn follows the darkest hours, and that the city…however imposing…can be transcended.
In this garage-turned-sanctuary, the mural quietly declares: resilience isn’t loud; it’s persistent. Patience isn’t passive; it’s purposeful. Strength isn’t always muscle; sometimes it’s stillness. And faith isn’t the absence of doubt; it’s choosing to rise anyway, hands outstretched, heart alight.
A beautiful reminder that even in the most unexpected places—a basement wall with exposed beams and a ring light standing watch… we can paint our own horizons and claim our own light.
