Our last regular visit to Greenfield village of the year. 😢 A beautiful morning at one of my favorite places. I love getting inspiration from all the historic homes and gardens. It’s almost time to start planning for next year! 😁

I didn’t mean to leave you all hanging the other day. These are the macarons I made on Saturday. 🍎 Apple cider donut flavored! 🍎 The sides are rolled in cinnamon and sugar, of course. 😁❤️

We’ve got some new friends here, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Larissa, the joyful baker. As a mom of four boys with a husband who works hard and loves food, I quickly learned the way to their hearts is what comes from my kitchen. Feeding my family and others brings me a lot of joy. I also love teaching others how to bake and prepare meals. Along with photos of food, you’ll see the animals in my life. Our Labrador, Thor, cats and chickens. We are a homeschool family as well, so you might see some of what our days look like. The most important part of who I am, though, is that I love the Lord. My ultimate joy comes from knowing Jesus died and rose again so we can be saved from an eternity apart from Him. ❤️ I hope you’ll find value in what I post here. Please feel free to reach out any time you need help with sourdough or anything. If you’re interested in an in person or virtual sourdough class, or you’d like to purchase macarons, please DM me. ❤️

I used about a loaf and a half of my sourdough sandwich bread to make these for an event on Saturday. Preparing food for a crowd doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. Each of these sandwiches had two pieces of turkey, lettuce and tomato. I served the condiments on the side.

One of my favorite views in our home. And no it’s not 3:00 . . . I got lazy and stopped winding the clock. 🙈🥴 The clock was my dad’s and the books were my grandfather’s Bible commentaries. It’s so comforting to have things around that were once a part of my family members’ lives. There is such beauty in old things, right? I find myself wanting to decorate more and more with these things rather than what I see at stores.

These plastic bowl covers work great for bread proofing! They are stretchy enough to fit over many different sizes and shapes of bowls and pans. The third picture shows the ones I bought off Amazon. They’re less than $9 for 100. 🙌😁 what are you guys baking this week?

I just wanted to put this out there for those looking for information about classes. Classes are a lot of fun and I strive to make the process very simple and easy to follow. ❤️ 🍞

This is one of my favorite little corners of my kitchen. When I was planning out our kitchen remodel, I panicked trying to figure out what to do with 17” to the right of our last wall cabinet. We used stair risers that my husband cut to the size I needed, then sanded and stained them. These shelves hold some precious mementos of three of my grandmothers. I’ll have to tell you about them some time. For now, I wanted to point out my name change to The Joyful Baker. Very recently, I’ve felt lead to offer more classes. This has lead me to some exciting opportunities in the Howell/Brighton communities! Because of this, I needed to set up a page to create a better way to get information out to those who are looking. 😊 I’m actually pretty anxious about all of this, but excited as well. Baking does bring me a lot of joy. I love feeding people, hosting people and teaching. At the root of all of this, however, is my love for the Lord. My ultimate joy comes from knowing Him. Relishing in His saving grace. If you have any questions about classes, baked goods, or the gospel, I’m here for you. ❤️
