Ascension has officially taken its place at The Mint Museum as part of Guilding the Mint: Transformation.

This piece represents over 300 hours of burning, painting, gilding, and rebuilding—an exploration of resilience, transformation, and the strength found in starting again.

If you’re in Charlotte, you can see Ascension in person now through August 23.

Thank you to everyone who supported this journey from the first burn mark to the museum wall.

After more than 300 hours of burning, painting, gilding, and layering mixed media, Ascension is finally complete.

Created for the Guild of Charlotte Artists’ Transformation exhibition, this piece explores resilience, renewal, and the cycles that shape who we become. The phoenix, lotus, Luna moths, and Celtic knot all represent different aspects of transformation—rising after hardship, embracing change, and moving forward carrying both our scars and our strength.

I’m incredibly honored that Ascension was selected for exhibition at The Mint Museum.

Ascension has been months of long hours, late nights, and pushing myself further with this piece than anything I’ve made before.

Having it accepted into the Guilding the Mint: Transformations exhibit curated by GCA and hosted by the Mint Museum Uptown has been an incredible honor, and I’m genuinely proud of what this piece is becoming.

As part of the Guild of Charlotte Artists’ Transformation exhibit, Ascension uses symbolic imagery and layered textures to explore cycles of growth and renewal.

This fourfold Celtic knot is woven from a single unbroken path — a symbol associated with cycles, balance, renewal, and transformation through change.

In Ascension, the knot reflects the idea that transformation is a journey. Growth comes through change, struggle, healing, and renewal, with every stage remaining connected to the next.

The interwoven lines represent how each experience shapes what we become, carrying pieces of the past forward as we continue to evolve.
