Tip of the Week: Stay Grounded, Holiday Lighting Safety 101! 🪜⚡

Hanging outdoor holiday lights shouldn't come with an emergency room visit or a blown circuit! Every season, thousands of homeowners risk severe falls and electrical hazards trying to tackle second-story rooflines on icy, uneven ground.

If you are setting up lights yourself, keep these essential safety rules front and center:

⚡Obey the 4-to-1 Rule: Set the base of your ladder 1 foot away from the wall for every 4 feet of height to prevent slipping or tipping backwards. Always maintain three points of contact, never overreach past the side rails, and avoid metal ladders near overhead power lines.

⚡Never Hang Plugged-In Strands: Always inspect bulbs and cords for fraying or exposed copper on the ground first. Fastening active, powered lines while balancing on a ladder drastically increases the risk of shock and sudden falls.
