That’s right… 19 PALLETS of Create-A-Lure kits are packed, wrapped, and headed your way for the holiday season! 🚛📦

There’s something pretty surreal about seeing 19 pallets of products that started as an idea in our garage ready to roll out the door to stores across the country. 🥹

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and excited to see Create-A-Lure under even more Christmas trees this year! 🎁🎣

Now excuse us while we stare at all the newly acquired empty warehouse space for approximately 12 minutes before filling it again. 😂

🎃👻 SPOOKY FISHING TIP OF THE WEEK 🎣💀

This Halloween, we’re telling you to FISH THE GRAVEYARD. 😳

No, no… put the shovel away. 😂 We’re talking about the underwater w**d graveyard.

As fall settles in and aquatic vegetation starts dying off, those decaying w**ds can become less inviting for baitfish. Instead, look for the edges where dead w**ds meet healthy green vegetation. 🌿

🎣 Those edges can be prime ambush territory for bass and northern pike looking for their next meal.

So remember:

👻 Dead w**ds = spooky
🌿 Green w**ds = life
🎣 The edge between them = CAST HERE

Basically, if the underwater plants look haunted…
Fish next door. 😂🎃

🎂 GET TO KNOW THE FAMILY — BIRTHDAY EDITION! 🎣🎉

Today we're introducing you to one of the smallest (but definitely not quietest 😂) members of the Northern Lights Toys family… ATHENA!

And today she officially turns 7 YEARS OLD! 🥳🎂

Athena is our resident helper, professional box unloader, tiny chaos coordinator, and girl who is always ready to see what Mom and Dad are doing… whether we requested assistance or not. 😂

A few things you should know about our newly minted 7-year-old:
🎣 She can proudly say she's caught a 22-inch northern!
🦖 She's currently VERY invested in dinosaurs — and has already decided she's going to study them. Apparently, the necessary qualifications include a suit and a driver's license.
📦 If boxes show up at Northern Lights Toys, there's a decent chance she's going to "help" Dad unload them.
🎨 She's grown up around lures, paint, fishing, trade shows and the general chaos that comes with having parents who decided starting a toy company sounded like a good idea. 😂
💗 And she brings a whole lot of personality wherever she goes.

So today, Northern Lights Toys is taking a tiny break from fishing tips and lure painting to say...

HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY, ATHENA! 🎉🎂🎣

We hope your day includes cake, presents, dinosaurs, swimming, and exactly the appropriate amount of 7-year-old chaos.

There are moments in parenting when you have to make important decisions.

And then there are moments when you’re walking through the store, spot a GIANT FISH COSTUME, look at your daughter and think…

🐟 “Put it on.” 😂

No explanation.
No discussion.
No concern for her dignity.

Because when your family owns a fishing lure company, I’m pretty sure this is legally required. 🤷‍♀️🎣

She may have thought we were just shopping.

She was wrong. She was auditioning. 😂🐟

10/10 modeling.
10/10 fish.
0/10 chance I was walking past this opportunity. 🤣

A little behind-the-scenes look at Create-A-Lure! 🎨🐟

Every paint pot, sealer pot, and brush gets packed into these bags by our team, right here in our warehouse. That colorful pile in the first photo? Yep, we sort through it one bag at a time. 😅

It’s one of the many little steps that goes into getting each kit ready for its next fishing adventure. And if anyone needs us, we’ll be over here finding paint pots in our dreams. 😂

🎣 FISHING TIP OF THE WEEK: Cast where everyone else isn’t. 👀

See that perfect-looking open stretch of water? Sometimes the fish aren't hanging out there — they’re tucked up against the weird stuff.

Try casting near the edges of w**d lines, docks, fallen trees, rocks, shadows, or anywhere two types of structure meet. Fish often use these spots for cover and as ambush points while waiting for an easy meal.

Here’s the trick: don’t just cast *toward* the structure — work your lure right along the edge of it. 🎣

That little change can put your lure directly in front of a fish instead of asking it to leave its hiding spot and chase dinner across the lake.

Of course, casting closer to cover also introduces another exciting fishing activity:

“Is that a fish… or did I just catch a $14 tree branch?” 🌳😂

Either way, something's getting caught.

Paint it. Cast it. Catch it. 🎨🎣

🎣❤️ This is what Create-A-Lure is all about.

Over the 9/11 weekend, Mandatory Fun Outdoors hosted their 8th Annual Gals N’ Gills Women’s Fishing Event, bringing together an incredible group of women who are also U.S. military veterans.

Northern Lights Toys was honored to donate Create-A-Lure Mystery Edition kits for all of the attendees—and we absolutely LOVE getting to see them being put to use!

Here are just a few of the ladies getting creative and painting their own lures. 🎨🎣 And judging by the concentration happening in these photos… these designs were serious business. 😂

As a veteran-owned business, opportunities like this one mean a little extra to us. We’re incredibly grateful that Create-A-Lure could be a small part of a weekend centered around fishing, connection, and bringing fellow veterans together outdoors.

Thank you to Mandatory Fun Outdoors for allowing us to be part of such a special event—and thank you to every woman who has served our country. 🇺🇸❤️

✨ A little sparkle upgrade is happening at Create-A-Lure! ✨

We’re making a small change to our sealer — but we think you’re going to LOVE it!

We’re saying goodbye to the chunkier glitter we’ve used in the past and switching over to an ultra-fine glitter. 🎨🎣✨

Why the change? The finer glitter mixes more evenly into the sealer and gives your finished lure a smoother, more consistent sparkle without those larger glitter pieces stealing the show.

Same finishing step. Same Create-A-Lure fun. Just a ✨finer✨ finishing touch!

You may see both versions in kits for a little while as we make the transition — so if you notice your sparkle looking a little different, that’s why!

Because apparently even fishing lures deserve a glitter upgrade. 💅🎣✨

🎣 FISHING TIP OF THE DAY: Sometimes being a little weird pays off. 😂

Here’s one you may not have tried: change your retrieve halfway back to the boat.

It’s easy to fall into the *cast… reel… cast… reel* routine, but fish don’t always want predictable.

Try reeling your lure normally, then suddenly pause it. Let it sit for a second or two, give it a quick twitch, then start retrieving again. That sudden change can make your lure look like injured or confused prey — and sometimes that’s exactly what convinces a following fish to finally strike. 👀🐟

Bonus tip: Pay attention right before you pull your lure out of the water. Fish will sometimes follow it much farther than you realize. A quick pause or change in direction near the boat can turn a curious follower into a bite.

And if none of that works?

Clearly the fish simply weren't emotionally prepared to appreciate your lure today. 🤷‍♀️😂

Paint it. Cast it. Catch it. 🎨🎣
