This Saturday, Calm & Cozy is showing up for more than business. 🩷

We’ll be joining the Edith Marie Foundation for Bikers for Breast Cancer—a day centered around bringing our community together to raise awareness, show support, and stand with those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

For us, this is what community looks like. Showing up. Supporting one another. And using what we’ve built to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

Of course, we’re bringing a little Calm & Cozy with us too! 🕯️✨ Come shop your favorites, smell all the good things, say hey, and support an incredible cause while you’re there.

At Calm & Cozy Co., we believe the ingredients matter just as much as the fragrance.

There was a time when I questioned so much.

Why I had to go through certain things. Why I wasn’t accepted in certain spaces. Why people didn’t always handle my heart with care. Even why God chose me for some of the things He placed in my hands.

But somewhere along the way, the questions stopped needing answers.

I became certain.

Certain of who I am. Certain of what God placed inside of me. Certain that what didn’t accept me, mishandled me or misunderstood me never had the authority to define me.

And after spending so much of life feeling like I had to be strong just to survive, I’ve learned that I actually LOVE being soft. 🤎

Not weak. Not unsure. Soft.

A softness that comes from knowing I don’t have to fight for what God has already settled.

And THAT is where SOFT & CERTAIN came from. ✨

So yes, you’re getting a little behind the scenes of me creating a candle…

but you’re also getting a little piece of me.

When I first started making candles, I had no idea just how much I didn’t know. And looking back, I’m grateful for that....

When I first started making candles, I had no idea just how much I didn’t know. And looking back, I’m grateful for that.

Because some things you can research. Some things you can watch somebody else do. Some things you can read about over and over again.

But some things? You learn by doing.

I thought more fragrance meant a stronger candle. I thought choosing a wick was pretty straightforward. I didn’t understand how much the type of wax mattered. I put a LOT of energy into making things pretty. I bought things because I thought I needed to try everything. And I definitely didn’t understand just how much testing, tweaking, changing and starting over would become part of the process.

But every version taught me something.

Every candle that didn’t perform the way I expected taught me something.
Every supply I bought and never used taught me something. 😂
Every formula I changed taught me something.
Every “Okay…back to the drawing board” taught me something.

And one of the biggest things I’ve learned is this:

Refining what I do doesn’t mean what I did before was a failure. It means I learned enough to do it better.

I’m still learning.
I’m still growing.
And I’m still creating.

I don’t have it all figured out—and I don’t need to.

I just need to remain teachable, intentional and willing to become better at what God has placed in my hands.

And if something I’ve learned along the way helps another candle maker avoid a mistake, rethink their process, or simply keep going, then it was worth sharing. 🩵

There’s always room to become better.

There is a reason I’m intentional about every step of this process.

Before I ever pour a candle, the vessels are cleaned, prepped and wicked by hand. It may seem like the smallest part of the process, but to me, it matters.

One thing God continues to show me is that there is purpose in the preparation. We may be focused on the finished thing, but there is so much that has to happen BEFORE we ever get to see what we’ve been praying for.

That is something I carry with me into Calm & Cozy.

I pray over this business. I pray over the work of my hands. And I’m intentional about what I create because Calm & Cozy was never supposed to be about simply selling something that smells good.

I want what I create to remind you to slow down. To find your peace. To make your home feel like a place where you can breathe, pray, rest and just BE.

So yes, even cleaning a vessel and placing a wick matters to me.

Every detail is intentional.
Every step has a purpose.
Nothing is rushed. 🤍
