🎨➡️🌿 From Art to Owls (and Everything in Between!) 🦉🦊🦌

Hi friends! It’s been a long minute (about 9 months!) since I last posted here. I haven’t disappeared, I’ve just shifted gears into a new project that I’m really excited about, and I’d love for you to join me.

These days my creativity is going into a brother–sister project called Backyard Wildlife Maine, where we use trail cams and photography to capture the secret life of Maine’s wildlife. Think: owls swooping in at night, foxes sneaking past, deer being silly, and plenty of those surprising moments you’d never see unless you were out there at 2 a.m. with a flashlight (and maybe a sense of humor).

I’ll always cherish the art community that grew here, but now I’d love to invite you to follow along with this new adventure. It’s been such a joy to share the beauty, humor, and mystery of Maine’s wild backyard, and I think you’ll enjoy it too.

Thanks for sticking with me through the quiet spell — I hope you’ll come along for this new chapter. Who knows… maybe a few more art posts will sneak in here and there. 😉

Welcome to Backyard Wildlife Maine! 🦌 We’re all about the everyday wildlife that roams (or sneaks!) through our backyard here in Maine. From deer and foxes to songbirds, squirrels, and surprise critter cameos, our trail cams and feeder cams are always rolling to capture nature doing its thing. ...

Hey guys, I'm alive! Figured I'd pop in since it's been a while.

What started off as a summer filled with artsy plans, ended up devolving into a nightmare. Things are just getting back to some semblance of normalcy.

Long story short, my life has been punctuated by several health crises, a death in the family, my car being totaled out which left me having to be up at 3am every morning in order to get rides in to work - which exhausted me to the point of incapacitation, among several other things. Phew!

Good thing is that last week we bought a new car. So at least there's that.

I have two commissions that I'm working on today, then we'll be on vacation for a couple of weeks at the end of August.

I plan to resume work on the phoenix tutorial in September.

Will be back once I have some pics of the double cat and bittersweet wreath I have out on commission currently. See you all soon!

Update on the Rising Phoenix Tutorial

I am about 3/4 through writing this. Yay!

Next weekend I will start the arduous process of creating a demo piece and photographing it step-by-step. I might even try to video it.

Comment below if you can't wait for the official tutorial to go live!

I have been furiously "summering." AKA enjoying fresh air, sunshine, and gardening while it lasts. Summer is so ridiculously brief in Maine. It's as though we go from a foot of snow in April, to hazmat suits in June to avoid the BTM plague, and suddenly we're winterizing the yard we barely got to enjoy while it was actually warm. My head will be back in the art game this fall, but for now, bring on the outdoors.

My biggest accomplishments in the past few weeks have consisted of home improvements projects, yardwork, and quality time spent with my amazing husband.

I'm popping back in today to share the new Print-on-Demand section of my Etsy shop. Over time I plan to add some more images, including a quilled cat PoD collection. Right now this only has postcards and greeting cards, but it's a start!

For all the locals, I'll be performing live quilling and interactive demonstrations at the Windsor Fair on August 30th. I will create an event once I have times established. Hopefully I will see some of you there!

I'll be back soon for pics of the in-progress Dirty Daisies (this time Fifty Shades of Grey).

Looks like there's another batch of daisies on their way!

Another photo of last night's workshop. We created a simplified scrollwork cat based on my original design, but instead of using stacked scrolls, we used c-coils. The result was very visually similar, and just as lovely.

Thanks so much to Woodbrook Animal Clinic for hosting my first ever quilling workshop! It was a lot of fun and the cats came out so cute!
