As Virginia Postrel has informed us, textiles and their components are at the very heart of every major development in human civilization.

The current conflict between India and Pakistan has its roots in the spectacular textile that Kashmir produced and processed.

What we now know as cashmere originated as the thread input harvested from the underbelly of a goat living at an altitude of between 13,000 and 16,000 feet above sea level.

Joséphine Bonaparte made "Pashminas," or shawls woven of the wool from Kashmir, all the rage.

Economically, the power of the 1790 - 1810 fashion movement, all across Europe, lead to a power grab for Kashmir.

And uncertainty over the region has lived on since.

An effectively executed pattern match, as seen here on the side of a knife-edge pillow for a private client, dramatically elevates the final product. Dramatically.

While not difficult, it is time consuming.
