✨ How to Make It

Step 1: Clean the Cans

Wash the tin cans thoroughly and remove all labels and adhesive residue. Dry completely before decorating.

Step 2: Prepare Drainage Holes

Using a drill or hammer and nail, carefully create several drainage holes in the bottom of each can. This helps prevent overwatering.

Step 3: Paint the Base Colors

Apply a coat of acrylic paint to each can. Choose bright colors such as turquoise, yellow, red, blue, or green. Allow the paint to dry completely.

Step 4: Add Decorative Designs

Use paint pens or small brushes to create patterns such as flowers, dots, geometric shapes, or folk-art inspired designs.

Step 5: Seal the Surface

If the planters will be used outdoors, apply a clear protective sealer to help preserve the colors.

Step 6: Create Hanging Holes

Make two or four holes near the top rim of each can, evenly spaced around the planter.

💿—a creative way to recycle discs into decorative flowers.

🧾 Materials:
Old CDs/DVDs
Scissors (strong)
Candle or heat source
Pliers or tweezers
Hot glue gun
Wire or stick (for stem)
👩‍🎨 Step-by-step:
1. Cut petals
Cut the CD into small petal shapes (oval or teardrop)
2. Heat the pieces
Carefully warm each piece over a candle
This softens the plastic so it can bend

⚠️ Be careful—CD plastic can get hot quickly!

3. Shape the petals
Use fingers or pliers to gently curve the petals
Give them a natural, rounded shape
4. Make the center
Roll or fold a small piece to form the inner bud
Glue it to hold shape
5. Build the rose
Glue petals around the center, layer by layer
Start small, then add larger petals outward
6. Add a stem
Attach a wire or stick to the base with glue

Do people still do sip n dips? Or is there a new craft people moved onto? I have lots of sip n dip projects - considering bagging up kits to sell so you can do your own sip n dip at home…. But my leaps are usually a day late and a dollar short.
