“”A Place to Be Still””

A moon rising over the ocean, painted to capture that quiet feeling of being completely present.

The gold-painted edges catch the light, while the blurred marks across the water are intentional — inspired by the way light scatters, softens, and flickers across moving waves. I wanted the water to feel imperfect and alive, like the way it actually looks when you sit and watch it long enough.

A Place to Be Still is meant to feel like a little escape — a reminder that sometimes, you can simply sit, breathe, and let everything else become quiet.

20 × 16 in. · Original oil painting · Oval canvas

Take two. I realized after posting that I had the wrong date on the flyer, so here’s the corrected version.

The event is Thursday, August 20th.

Studio Social is a new creative night here in Joplin—a chance to slow down, make something with your hands, meet new people, and enjoy a different kind of night out.

Our first workshop is Air-Dry Clay Magnet Night. We’ll be creating colorful magnets inspired by olives, chili peppers, orchids, sardines, papayas, or whatever you’d like to make. Charcuterie, sangria, music, and all supplies are included.

No experience is needed. Whether you come with a friend or come solo, we’d love to have you.

A New Day
Oil on Canvas
48” × 24”

Buyer Description

A New Day captures the quiet optimism that comes with starting over. Inspired by the stillness found just before the world awakens, the painting invites a moment of pause—where calm water, soft light, and an endless horizon remind us that every sunrise offers another chance to begin again.

The layered oil paint creates depth and movement across the water, while the warm glow of the rising sun brings balance to the cool blues below. Designed to evoke peace without demanding attention, A New Day complements modern, coastal, Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, and minimalist interiors, becoming a grounding focal point within a space.

Each original painting is created by hand in oil on stretched canvas, making every brushstroke and subtle texture one of a kind.
