Honu – ‘Aumākua
A symbol of wisdom, protection, and guidance,
the honu leads the way to freedom,
gliding with grace into the deep ocean canyon—
a guardian spirit beneath the waves.

First time painting this incredible creature, it was a challenging and also freeing experience.

I remember following a baby Honu at Waimea bay for the very first time, when the unexpected presence of this beautiful and gentle creature gracefully “flying” by made a lasting impression. I couldn’t help but hold my breath and follow the little dude for a couple of minutes.

More than a decade later, painting this image brought back many wonderful memories, as well as peace and love to my life. It reminds me to slow down, breathe, appreciate gravity, and everything life has to offer.

Nature is the most amazing teacher, the ultimate inspiration, and keeps me grounded with much gratitude.

Mānana - Rabbit Island, Oahu

One of my favorite paintings so far ❤️

This is my very first painting of the Ko’olau Mountain Range, and it was a very exciting and challenging experience.

This painting marks and celebrates the two wonderful years I have been taking lessons from my incredibly talented teacher, mentor and dear friend Christy Fujii. She has taught me so much about color mixing, oil painting, and seeing the world with a different perspective ❤️

I am veryry grateful for my loving and ruggedly handsome hubby Greg for introducing me to oil painting, and Tracy for introducing us to Christy and many many amazing friends we have on this beautiful island.

“Echoes of the Tide”
Glass floats were beautiful and forgotten treasures gently washed ashore by the ocean, landed on the beaches on the isalands. They were a unique and iconic part of Hawaii’s coastal history before our oceans were overwhelmed with plastic, and trash.

Thank you, Claudia, for taking photos of gloss floats on Kailua Beach, documenting a precious time, and sharing the image with all of us.

I remember the beautiful blossoms fall like vibrant purple snow in Malawi.
As vividly as my asthma attacks during the season 😛🥴

This is one of my very first paintings, learning how to paint the sky, and exploring the different shades of green. We chose this because Nicole loves purple, and we all fell in love with purple ❤️
