Rain cut our time short today at the Kernersville Spring Folly, but we’re not done yet! Come see us tomorrow from 1–6 PM at the Kernersville Artisan Craft Market—we’ll have all your favorites: custom pens, cutting boards, pizza cutters, ice cream scoopers, wine stoppers, bottle openers, and more, all handcrafted from beautiful and unique woods.

Fordite, also known as “Detroit Agate” or “Motor City Gem,” is a unique material made from layers upon layers of dried automotive paint built up over the years in car manufacturer paint booths. I’ve been crafting pens from Fordite sourced from Jeep, Chevy, Kenworth (which produces a stunning dragon scale pattern), Corvette, and even Garbage Trucks.

The result? Pens with incredibly vibrant color combinations and one-of-a-kind patterns. To ensure durability, the Fordite is often stabilized with resin and shaped into a blank, then paired with high-end pen kits made from metals like Rhodium, Platinum, Titanium, Palladium, and more.
